SD and SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

How do i dispose of old movie film

Garbage bin? Sorry I could not help, making this joke. But I think I know what you mean. The old movie film is still in your camera?
On a memory card? If it is the only movie, it would be a good idea to format the memory card. This not only will wipe the movie, but cleans up the card complete.
If I had known more details, perhaps I could have told you what menu item you should goto, for wiping picture, or movie. Or for formatting.
I also could warn you, if certain messages came on the screen, like Picture is protected or card is protected.

After clearing the SD card of all pictures, how do I get the picture number to read 0?

I'm not into reading manuals, so I can't be sure if that information is there.

You may want to go into the Menu, then select Tools, and either Reset the camera or Format the Internal Memory.

*** There are no warnings when attempting to Reset the camera, but several warnings are displayed when attempting to Format the Internal Memory.

I've never tried it, so don't know which you want to try first.

I bought a a sd mini card and adapter there are pics on it and when i insert it it say it needs to be formated,i dont want to loose my pics ..what do i do?

How do you know that there are pictures on it?

Search online for "file recovery camera memory card" for utilities that will read, block-by-block, the entire memory-card, and try to "recover" the pictures.

Compare it to a textbook with a missing "table-of-contents" -- you can still read each chapter, and probably can rebuild the table-of-contents, after you read the whole textbook.

All my pictures on my memory card were deleted is there anyway to retrieve them?

Yes. Search online for "file recovery" software -- it reads through the memory-card, block-by-block, trying to "stitch" together the blocks into complete pictures.

Hi i have a pentax E30,after taking a picture it says the card block and does not show the picture taken it will also say the is no image

Do you know that the SD card has a little switch on its side?
It is a small sliding thing on the other side from the cut out corner.

If this is in the lock position it will stop you saving your pictures to the card. This is to protect pictures that you want to keep.

To save pictures to the card the switch must be in the up position.

Memory card blocked

check the lock on the card itself, you have accidently locked it with your finger, if not put it back on the pc and check if the transfer software has locked it in someway.

Just bought the camera. I bought 2.0 GB of memory (San Disk)

I'm sorry but it is hard to understand your problem. Did you try to remove the card and see if there is any dirt or something blocking the contacts? Also if the camera will not format the card try pluging the camera into your PC and right click on the icon labled "Removable Disk (E:)" (the "E" may be a different letter) and the click on the Format... option that appears (about halfway down the list that pops up) and click start and click "OK" on the warning that pops up.

Coolpix 2100 Just Stopped Working

It sounds like your card has got corrupted, probably because the batteries ran out while the camera was writing to the card. It's important that you don't use the card until you've recovered the pictures from it.

If you have a lexar card, the chances are that it came with some card recovery software. I'd recommend you use this to recover the pictures from your card before reformatting it, then it should be good to go.

If you have no luck with formatting it after recovery, the card must be damaged, but I'd be very surprised if so.
