Question about GE Hotpoint Top-Freezer Refrigerator

1 Answer

I have a hotpoint refrigerator, model number HTS17GSERWW. It was a noisy appliance from very beginning. For last 2 weeks the noise has gotten very loud, it is inside the freezer compartment - when I open the freezer door it is louder. If I hit or tap on the rear panel inside the freezer, it goes away for some time but then comes back on. My guess would be that it is the fan - there is no ice build up inside the freezer. Any ideas? How to go about troubleshooting the problem?

Good day,
The only moving part in the freezer is the fan motor. Unless the fan blade broke one of it's blades you will need to replace the motor with a new one. They are not repairable. At the same time buy a new blade as well, since an out of balance blade could have started this problem.
To access the motor, remove the ice maker, if it has one (3 screws and an electrical plug. The cube tray holder if not).
Remove the screws from the back panel, and remove the panel.
The motor change is a straight nuts and bolts job and fairly easy.

Any decent sized appliance parts house will carry the motor and blade. Take the model number with you.

Noisy side by side hot point. It has been keeping us up at night. Repair man says nothing wrong. It was not this loud when new three years ago. Any thoughts? Model # HSM25GFTA

Hi,
Often the noise is the condenser fan underneath the frdge... the bearings get worn and then the fan starts to make a horrible racket...see if you can pin the noise down to that and then order a repalcement...

That is not that hard to fix and you can easily buy the parts yourself online...

Grinding noise about 30 seconds after starting

Sounds like starter isn't disengaging, get that checked pronto, you could be damaging the flywheel (very expensive). Could be any appliance also; a/c compressor, idler pully, alternator, etc. Don't wait.

Hotpoint CDT00G Very Noisy

If the noise is like a shaking of rattling , like coins being shaked , then it is an object trapped inside the drum.

If instead the noise is a loud grinding , that may get louder on high speed, then it is usually a bad drum bearing.

If dryer is not cooling, check that the noise is not coming from the ventilation fan.

Rollers and belt tensioner can also make noise.

Enter the model number on one of two websites below to get parts and diagrams for your appliance:

Hotpoint Superplus 7822 dishwasher

At the beginning of the cycle the dishwasher is attempting to pump out any residue water in the waste pipe and sump. It could be that the motor is sticking but you would probably also suffer from it not draining properly.
It may just be noisy pump. I have a similar model and it is also quite noisy but nothing extraordinary.
When the dishwasher is pumping out at the end of the washing cycle it may be quieter when there is water in the pump/pipes but then gets noisy as it 'pumps air'.
