SOURCE: polaris booster pump overheats and trips the breaker

The motor may be repairable. Check with local electric motor repair shops in your area. The motor may need to be replaced though and if so, we sell it at www.arrowmotor.net

SOURCE: Pump comes on for about a minute...then shuts off..

Has this pump worked at all -pumped water?
When it's running for about a minute, is it pumping water?
Is this a self priming pump or do you need to prime it?

SOURCE: polaris booster pump turns on for about 3 seconds.

That click you hear is the pump's breaker, or thermal overload kicking in. After about one minute, the pump has cooled down again.

I believe this type of pump is not self-priming, and therefore, it needs to be primed and purged of air. If it is not a self priming pump, there should be a small plug on top of the pump housing. Remove the plug, and add water from the top opening until the water overflows, and then replace the plug. Or, if when you remove the plug, water comes out the top opening, let it flow for a few seconds, and then replace the plug. Then, turn the pump on.
Hope this was helpful...

SOURCE: polaris booster pump runs for minute but quits. Tries to restart

The motors are usually dual voltage and factory connected for 230V. Are you sure it is properly wired and set for the correct incoming line voltage?

Why is my polaris 280 booster pump is revving much faster than usual?

Thank you for posting your question here on Fixya.com.

The booster pump can not turn any faster than its nameplate speed. If you think it is revving up, it is probably because it is running louder and/or rougher than normal. The pump seal and/or bearings are becoming worn and will need servicing. A local electric motor repair shop should have the parts for you to buy or they could repair it for you. Often times a gasket will need to be replaced as well but all told the repair should be ~$100 or so.
