Go to control panel, click on network and internet connections
at the bottom of the window click network connections
right-click on local area connection then click properties

in the preview pane select 'internet protocol (TCP/IP)'
click properties

make sure that 'obtain an ip address automatically' and 'obtain a dns server address automatically' are both selected then click OK.

I hooked my linksys E1000 Router to Samsung 3d TV (Wired), but the TV doesnot detect the internet speed, on my laptop (Wireless) is 144Mbps.

you may need to sign in manually, those tvs sometimes dont pick up dns addresses of routers automaticallty

plug in your cable into your laptop

go to start/accessories/command prompt

type in ipconfig

scroll up till you see ethernet

take down your ip4 address, itll look something like this xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (change the last number to something in the range of 1-250) your subnet mask ad default gateway

plug back in your line to your tv,go to manual enter settings

enter in your ip (with the number changed at the end) your subnet mask and your default gateway number for your dns/gateway if required

if you need more help try customer service on the samsung american site, theyre really good at answering any quick email queries :)

I cant set up my linksys wireless-G ADSL, my laptop recognizes linksys but i still cant connect to the internet, when i clicked on troubleshoot to correct the problem, it says DNS isnt recognized

Go to a cmd prompt. To go there, simply type cmd in the search. You can access it by going to your C hard drive, find Windows folder, in the folder locate System 32 - look for cmd.
When you are in cmd:
Type IP config and see if you have an @ssigned IP in the range setup in the router. If not try C:\ipconfig\release then C:\ipconfig\renew Likely that this won't work.
    The steps I took were:
1.) Go to Start/Control Panel/Network Connections. Right click on the wireless connection. Go to TCP/IP in the components section and click the properties button. Make sure Obtain IP and DNS address are both set to automatically.
2.) I had WEP enabled, make sure your wireless card and the router are both set to the same encryption 64 or 128 and make sure they are both on the same channel.
3.) Try C:\ipconfig\release then C:\ipconfig\renew again and hopefully you'll get an IP address.

Network "cant find the server."

Where did you see that error message? Other web site working?
Did you set DNS server to your router or your ISP's server IP address? I suggest you to use the internal IP address of your router as the default gateway and the DNS server setting on your computer if necessary. On your router, you can set to use ISP's DNS server if necessary. Usually you don't need to set anything on your router, it will detect it for you automatically. For some web sites, you may need to open some more port and have your ISP check all the settings on their site to make sure everything is working if you added the router recently.

How to open nat settings

Log into your router and write down the DNS servers that the router is using. Statically set the DNS servers on your network adapter to the IP's listed on the router.

This way the router will continue to provide you your IP address and you will use the ISP DNS servers directly, rather than through the DNS proxy of the router.

For that connect your router to directly to lan ports of your server.and install another ethernet lan card on server so that ports connect with switch.
Then configure your router as bridge connection then set dns as your server ip in all computers. Then you can get 100% fast internet.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks for using FixYa.

hello, is your server 2003 setup as DNS server??? if so have you configured forwarder for non- local access? is that a home? or business? is it work do you not have a static public IP address.

here whats happening, when you manually give client the DNS they can resolve everything local fine but when a request for outside world is sent your server doesn't know what to do with it. log on to server open up your dns console, right click on your domain, then select properties, find forwarder tab and add a any reliable public DNS server there ( ie I use 4.2.2.1 (att)) server pretty quick and reliable.
so next time a request is sent to your server and server doesn't have that information it forward that to the public DNS and you will be good to go.

but from your setup i am gathering there is plently you do to improve your network and reduce your headache of manual work.

typical setup: 1- setup DNS with forwarder
2- Setup DHCP on Server instead of router ( trust me its easier than you think)
3- put all setting to for clients in DHCP options
4- reserve IPs for servers/prineters/switches etc.
5- set all clients for DHCP
6-disable DHCP on router.

let me know if your need help setting it up.

i hope this helps
good luck

Use static IP addresses. Do not DHCP from the router. Still use the same DNS and gateway. Just specify an IP address for each one, preferably not in the DHCP range used on the router.
