SOURCE: Power Working fine but keeps shutting off

Hi jenniferlahm,
This type problem usually shows it mean head when your motor is going bad. The motor will run for just a moment then it gets really hot and shuts off till cool. I bet when you start the dryer you hear a unusuall humm as the motor starts. If you are not hearing a hestating humm as it starts then the problem may be elsewhere. Other possible problems that casue this would be. the tub rollers. To check the rollers reach inside and try to turn the tub with your hand. you should be able to turn the tub. if not you may need new rollers, or pads. Good luck and I hope its not a bad motor, but if it is let me know and I can have you one there in no time.

It could be a micro switch in the latch mechanism not communicating properly with the display circuit board, or it could be the circuit board itself. The switch might cost 20 or 30 dollars, but the board could be hundreds. Kinda costly if you ask me...

SOURCE: Defrost problem

No there is nothing to reset. It could be one of three things. Let the unit defrost completley. Take the same back pannel off. Check to see if your heater at the bottom is discolored or if you can see thats its broken inside. The next thing it could be is the limith switch which is located on the top of the evaperator. If both those seem fine you can go to the back of the unit and check the main control board. Most of the time its the heater though.

Good Luck

Is it possible the drain is plugged? The newer furnaces have a moisture drain and will shut down if they are blocked., shutting them down and restarting will reset fault, but will come right back if not fixed.

How does the fridge compartment get cold? Is it a thermostat or condenser problem?

The self defrosting feature of your unit has a failed component. Possible defrost heater, defrost thermostat, or timer. The defrost timer may be part of the main circuit board of the unit.

Thermostat on whirlpool window unit keeps resetting to 86. will not cool room.

Check if the compressor runs when you start your air-conditioner. If it runs, make sure the evaporator sweats and the condenser at the back blows hot air. If not, you have freon leak and check for oil marks inside your a/c unit.If the compressor does not start, check your compressor overload, capacitor, and use a clamp meter to determine if you have a defective compressor.

The thermostat tells the compressor to turn on and off so i would deffinently agree that is the problem!!! Just UNPLUG!!!! the unit and remove the electrical panel, disconnect the thermostat and bring it to a local hvac supply store and they will be able to sell you a replacement then install and monitor the unit. This should fix your problem.

Compressor may be locking up. Run capacitor may be weak or loose wire. Sounds like major voltage drop off as unit head pressure increases.

Keeps turning off

This unit has a common problem with fans. If one of the cooling fans is intermittent the unit will turn off when the fan fails. A qualified tech with a service remote can get into the service menu and on this unit the is a menu line that shows pwr down failures.
