Question about PC Desktops

How do you install (or remove) a dvd drive on a ACER AM5630-U5202A desktop computer? I just need to know what has to be removed in order to do it. I can easily remove the side panel, but what is next? I emailed ACER and they were useless. Thanks.

Thank you. Does the drive come out through the front panel? If so, does the front panel need to be removed?

There might be two/four screw both side one/two.

  • Then you have to remove IDE data cable from back of the DVD drive.
  • And Power supply, you may find it also at the back of DVD drive.
  • Some dirve uses another connection its also situated at the back.
  • All the above connection you can easily remove by hand. No need of any tools. Just pull-out firmaly it will be out.

If any problem just Ask me
Thanks

No need to remove front panel. After removing all the connection just pull it outward. It will be out without any problem.

    Thanks

Have you checked the keyboards light? Is it lit? When you press on the CAPSLOCK button, does the light changes in the keyboard?

Try to unplug the hard drive, and DVD from the mobo and see if it goes well.

If no go, try removing the RAM sticks and see what's on the screen when you turn it on. Then put each part back one by one, checking the computer for any change or something like that.

How to remove hard drive from acer aspire x3200

Remove the cover/side panel on the case to get access to the components inside the computer.
The SATA hard drive is secured to the disk drive bay with 4 screws.
Unplug the SATA data cable and power cable from the hard drive, then remove the 4 screws securing the hard drive in the drive bay.
The hard drive can be removed from the drive bay.
Reverse this order to fit the hard drive back inside the computer.

Acer am5630-u5202a

I am not seeing any motherboards at the normal places I would look. How old is this computer? If it is less than a year, call Acer Tech support and they should repair it at no charge. As for sound card, it is built into the motherboard. If you have a PCI slot left open you could add a seperate sound card.

Hope this helps

My Acer T180-EA381B desktop won't burn dvd's over

The DVD Drive iteself may be bad. After installing/reinstalling the drivers, there are only two things left to check and that is if the driver was installed correctly (device manager- check to see if there is a "?" mark next to the DVD drive) or you can buy another drive and install. A new drive should take cae of your issue.

Can the motherboard on an acer AM5630-U5202A support a 1TB hard drive?

If it has a matching port (PATA or SATA). The operating system is the only limitation for drive size.

Memory type for the acer am5630-u5209a

Acer Aspire-Desktop AM5630-U5209a specs:
Memory Type-----DDR2
Memory Speed---PC2-4200, PC2-5300
Memory Type-----Non-ECC Non Registered
Memory Slots----2
Max Memory Per System--4096MB (4GB)
Max Memory Per Slot-------2048MB (2GB)
Dual Channel Memory Support---Supported
Tri-Channel Memory Support------Not Supported
Install Memory in Pairs--------------Not Required
also check your memory voltages by looking at the different memory voltage settings in your bios, write down the choices of the different voltages supplied by the motherboard for the memory.
Not all memory is created equal. for example, i purchased some high end gaming memory that matched my system specs only to find out it ran at a higher voltage than my motherboard would supply. Post again if you need more help ..

I need help! I'm a computer novice so please excuse my ignorance. I recently bought an Acer Aspire M1100 desktop (Acer Aspire AM1100-B1410A Refurbished AMD Desktop PC - AMD Athlon X2 4000 2 .1GHz, 2GB...

here is what you will need to complete this project:
  • Your new DVD burner with the included screws and cable.
  • A phillips screwdriver.
  • your new harddrive
  • Once you unpack the drive and find a screwdriver, you can finish the prep work by turning off and unplugging the power from your PC.
Installing Your Harddrive Step1 Open up your case after backing up any important files and locating and installing any software that came with the hard drive. Check to make sure that your computer supports SATA or that you have a SATA PCI card installed. Step2Look for the smaller connector on the SATA cable and connect it to the SATA connector located on the motherboard or controller card. If you already have another SATA drive, simply follow its cable to the motherboard or card to see where this one will attach. Step3Grab the larger end of the SATA cable and connect it to the back of the SATA drive itself. You will also need to attach the legacy 4-pin connector or SATA power cable to power your drive. At this point, check to see that both the smaller and larger end of the SATA cable and the power cable are securely connected and proceed. Step4Choose an available drive bay and insert the hard drive into it, mounting it in place with the four screws provided. Make sure to follow the directions that came with your drive and place the screws in the designated holes to secure proper grounding. Step5Ensure that all cables are properly attached and replace the tower or desktop case cover. After doing this, you're all set to reconnect the power cord and turn on your computer. Formatting and Partitioning Step1Boot from your Windows CD. If this is the only hard drive present, you'll be shown a series of instructions and should simply follow along. Step2Select "Control Panel" then "Performance and Maintenance" and finally "Administrative Tools" for an additional hard drive. Then click the "Computer Management option and choose "Disk Management." Simply right-click the drive to partition and format it. Step3Follow the steps displayed. Windows will guide you through the rest of the process. Now for your dvd drive---- 1.Shut down the system, unplug the power cord and remove the side panel or panels from the case. Ensure that the new DVD-ROM drive is set to be "Slave" or "Master," depending on if it is a replacement or an additional drive. 3 2.Locate the empty drive bay for the new DVD-ROM drive, and remove the drive bay covering. 4 Insert the new DVD-ROM drive into the empty bay and secure with screws or other attaching device provided by the manufacturer. 5 3.Connect the open connector on the ribbon cable (red stripe towards power cable) to the new DVD-ROM drive and connect the power supply cable (plastic four connector plug from power supply)to the drive. 6 Replace the side panel or panels, plug in the power cord and turn the system on. Install your dvd software bundle and get to work. These are actually two things you will want to do at once while the computer is open , but i would do them one at a time in case you have problems you will know what to blame. You can leave the cover off while operating the computer so that you can test it after the hard drive instrall and before the dvd install.

Install dvd drive

Refer to the picture below:

The CD drive should have 3 jumper pins labeled Master (MA), Slave(SL) and Cable Select (CL) at the back near the interface ribbon cable.  In this picture the green jumper is in the Master position.  To make it a Slave drive, you need to remove the jumper and place it in the middle pair called SL.  You may have to remove the CD drive if you can't access it while in the system.  When you put in the new DVD drive ensure that its' jumper is in the Master positon.  The drives will not work if both have jumpers in the same position.
