Hi Deborah this sounds more like the charger rather than the battery, do you have another charger to try this?, or you could take it to an electrical retailer and ask them to try charging it for you just to rechargeable batteries normally take a good 8 hours to fully charge before you use them, if you do not give them the full charge they create a memory, example : you charge the battery only 2/3's of the way, then use it, when you come to charge it, it will only charge up to 2/3's of the way, this will get smaller and smaller till eventually it seems like it is not charging, so really it is hit or miss with them, but i would take it to a store and ask them , at least that way you can be 100% sure which one is u/s...hope this helps

    hi Deborah
i think you have that memory thing that i explained in my last post then, but still take to retailer just to confirm it is one or the other, they may even find fault with the actual unit itself, but very doubtful good luck

Hello Steve..., Deborah again. Well..., I went trouble shooting today. I took my Zen to radio shack about the battery. I got a new charger in which they said was likely the problem. Although i can believe that the charger that i had probably went out that did not seem to be the problem when i got it home. Went to another radio shack ..., this time he(salesman) took his time ..., plugged it in and low and behold..., it stared charging...., light glowing even said that the battery was low. We came to the conclusion that the connection is likely loose. The charging still go's off and on. Where can i get this fixed. ..., without loosing my music. Can i sent it to you?. Deborah

My brother's MP3 player is messed up. When you boot it, it automatically goes to recovery mode. Here, it tells you the firmware and gives me a couple options: Recovery Mode Creative Zen Micro...

Couple things to try.

Let the battery drain completely, then do a full charge and try again.

When turning it on, don't hold the ON slide, just slide it to ON then let it go. Holding it will send it into recovery and reset mode.

My Zen Stone Won't Charge

I have the same problem. I used it like 10 times. I believe the problem is that it has a liIon battery and it does not have protective circuitary on the battery. Do you notice that if you charge it and let it sit, the battery goes dead. Thats becuase there is a constant drain on the battery. LiIon batteries have a nominal voltage and if the voltage drops below that level, they won't charge any more.

Try plugging it in and pressing the on button to see if the blue charge light goes on. Do this over and over again to see if you can trickle charge it up to a level where the full charge will start. If not, its junked because Creative did not make the battery serviceable which is a 2nd mistake.

Personally, I hope never to buy another Creative product.

Good Luck.

Creative Zen Micro MP3 5GB

May be u would have faced loose connections, for better results turn off the zen wait for 20sec and then connect it to the power and make sure u dont keep moving the zen or the cable attatched to it... Due to wear and tear loose contact becomes prone..!! Hoping for a good rating from u...!!!

Is it my battery or bad system?

I had the same problem a few years ago. Creative said that it was due to connecting the player to a lead that was plugged in to a socket which was already turned on. They recommended pluging in the player, then turning on the socket. They also had downloadable firmware to fix this problem.

Good luck.
