Question about Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

I have a Honeywell in line electronic air cleaner (about 12 years old) have replaced/reworked the cartridges but for some reason the unit just stoped working. I don't believe that its the cartridges, do you have any ideas that I might try. I'm a fairly handy guy. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks, Steve

I have a HoneyWell F300E electronic air cleaner, installed on a furnace in a house I just bought. I have never owned one of these things before. The filter arcs and makes sparking noises constantly,...

Continuous snapping is not normal .Remove both electronic cells. Make sure that there is no hair, dirt, sand or any debris on the bottom inside the Electronic air cleaner. If there is, remove what you can by hand. If a lot of debris is left in bottom of the Air Cleaner, you may want to use a vacuum attachment to see if you can vacuum up what you can.

Honeywell F50e electronic air cleaner indicator light stays on

Could be a faulty sail switch in the air cleaner that keeps the air cleaner on even without air flow.

My honeywell air purifier is emmiting an awful

Mine quit too... The led screen went blank so I changed the battery. Now it does nothing. I totally disassembled it as the fan was turning stiffly.(should spin very easilly) The grease in the end bearing was stiff. I washed the gummy grease off the shaft and reoiled with synthetic oil. Your smell is probably motor windings overheating. I disassembled the electronic control and was disgusted to see that there is a glass fuse soldered to the circuit board. I believe the only reason for this fuse is to cause us consumers to needlessly replace otherwise good equipment. (It cost more to pay a repairman to replace the hidden fuse than to purchase a new unit)The fuse is not blown. At least this fuse actually looks lide a fuse unlife the stealth fuses most electronics have hidden in them. I can not obtain a wireing diagram on my 17005 unit but it has a black box inside behind the control panel. It looks like a small start capacitor, but it has a temp rating on it of 70*C. I suspicion it is a single use over heat safety which triggered when my motor got hot due to stiff bearings. I refuse to play their game and purchase a new air cleaner. I love this one... So, if I can not determine what that little black box is, I am going to bypass all the crappy electronics and just drill a hole on top by the handle and install a hi/lo/off manual switch directly to the motors wire hasness. This machine will never give me problems ever again, and if I oil the motor every couple of years with synthetic (Ander oil) this unit WILL last me for the rest of my life...

My heat pump won't cool my house. I have a honeywell rth7500 programmable therostat. It is blowing cool air out of the outside unit and the lines are normal temp.

Warm air should be blowing out the outdoor unit. Have a technician evaluate if the compressor is functioning. There are many reasons why the compressor is not working. One of them being a start capacitor not working. Another being out of Freon due to a leak. Good luck

I want to try replacing the electrolytic capacitors Honeywell Part 136912 in my Honeywell F50A Electronic Air Cleaner with locally available parts. What are the capacitance and voltage ratings?

In my F50A1066 the capacitors are .022 uF (microfarad) with a 6000V rating. One is blown on my unit and I found a close replacement on Ebay (.02uF with a 16000V rating) for $5.00.

I've got a Honeywell Environcare Elite filtration system on my furnace. How is the best way to clean these two units that slide into place and provide electrostatic cleaning? Can I soak in a laundry sink...

Honeywell Electronic Air Cleaners remove airborne particles as small as .03 Microns. To put that in perspective the smallest particle you can see with the human eye is 10 microns
Honeywell Electronic Air Cleaners have far more collection area to collect and store airborne particles than any other electronic air cleaner on the market.

Maintenance requires cleaning every two to three months. Located inside the unit are two pre-filters, which need to be rinsed off. The two electronic cells require a good rinse followed by washing them in your dishwasher.

Great for allergy sufferers.

This came from the link I provided below. Good luck.
