Question about Samsung DVD-V5500 DVD Player/VCR

1 Answer

Hook up instructions to Visio HDTV and Comcast cable box. I can only get DVD or VCR to work , not both. I have Hdmi cable from TV to cable box, component cables from HDTV to Samsung for DVD, and composite cables from Samsung for VCR to HDTV.

The solution works. I should have asked before I bought my cables. The manual was no help. Thank you so much.

To put it simply you are using too many cables. Keep the HDMI cable from the Comcast box and use just a simple AV RCA cable from the Samsung (the Line Out connectors) to the TV if you want to see both the DVD and the tape using the same connection. If you are using a good quality cable the image will be the same as when using the component exits.

There is no HDMI cable connector on the Samsung box to connect to the Comcast box. The HDMI connector from the cable box is connected to the Visio HDTV. Is the advice still the same?

I just did what you said, and everything works. Thank you so much.

This is a Comcast baby - U are paying them plenty for the service - they should help you with the remote. Don't let them off the hook.

Need to attach dvd/vcr player to cable box and hdtv

DVD/VCR will take inputs of either component BGR RW or composite YWR and will provide either composite or HDMI output. My suggestion is to take the "best output" from the cable box you can and use the HDMI output to your HDTV. This will take the best your cable will offer and give your TV the best signal to use.
Cable box ------ to DVD/VCR ------ to HDTV.

How do I hook up the DVD/VCR to cable box and Vizio HDTV?

both should be hooked directly to tv

VCR side of combo should be hooked up with composite video(yellow, red, white wires) to video 1 input

DVD side of combo should be hooked up component video (red, blue, green wires and red white for sound)

cable box should be hooked up HDMI or component to TV if HD or composite video if SD

hope this helps

good luck

TRYING TO INSTALL DIGITAL SET-TOP BOX WITH DVD AND TV

Hi ccraigo
To answer your question;
Your motorola will connect directly(not through the dvd) to the tv set into one of the input ,(preferably using hdmi or component cables for hd) and the dvd will use a different input,
All you have to do then is switch between which one you want to watch.
Hope this help Cheers

How do I connect to Sharp HDTV and Comcast cable

Your dvd recorder only has rca, red white yellow inputs it wont allow you to record in HD, although you can play your comcast box any hd, regular digital through and record. Hook up the comcast box if HD through preferably HDMI if not get one from comcast. The HD box is the only box that allow HDMI, component and regular RCA and some RF out. This way you can play HD to your set but also record through RCA or RF again will not allow for HD record unless its TiVo. Hope this helps

Use output of combo player to input of TV. Use what ever available input you have left on you TV. HDMI or Component input is best, but others will work.

Recording with comcast hd box and toshiba VCR/DVD

1st, see if you can get another cable box that offers component as well as RCA outputs on the back. Does your cable box have S Video out and does your toshiba have S Video in? If so, hook up the S Video from cable box to Toshiba. Then hook up R&W audio from Cable Box out to Toshiba In. Set the channel on the cable box to what you want to record. Set Toshiba to record channel 3 or 4, whichever your Toshiba is set on. The cable box controls the channel you are recording. You cannot set the recorder to the channel you want to record. It must be either 3 or 4. Try it. If everything else fails, you have to go cable from wall to cable in on cable box, cable out on cable box to cable in on Toshiba then either cable or RCA out on Toshiba to TV.

How to Hook up HDMI from Comcast Motarola Cable Box

Connect the HDMI outputs on your various components to the HDMI inputs on your receiver. Connect the HDMI output on the receiver to the input on your TV. HDMI incorporates digital audio, so no need to buy optical audio cables. If your receiver does not have HDMI inputs for all your components, you will need to make a choice. HDMI = Best, component video + optical audio = second best, S-video+ optical audio = third best

I ahve a hdtv and a vcr how do I connect all three together and a diagram, please, Thanks joe

i dont know how to make a diagram but i will give the best instructions
make sure you follow these instructions so you will take advantage of your tv best possible picture if you hook it up some other way you will not get that great a picture
sat cable
coax from wall to box-use a hdmi cable only no other cable its pure digital connect to the out section on box and in section on tv
dvd
if dvd has hdmi out from dvd to in on tv the same as step one if dvd does not have hdmi then you will use commponent cables red green blue for picture and red and white for audio out from dvd to in on tv
vcr
since you cant record hd on vcr you will just hook it up with yellow red and white (composite cables)out from vcr to in on tv.
if done any other way it may work but not digital and not best picture available to you

Don't worry about sending the TV audio to the Panasonic. Just send a digital audio signal from the cable box to the Panasonic.

DVD - Panasonic connected via HDMI
TV - Panasonic connected via HDI
cable connected to cable box and TV. But you will not really be using the cable connection to the TV (TV Tuner) since you will want HD feed from cable box through HDMI input on TV.

You aren't concerned about feeding the TV speakers because your audio will always come from the home theatre.

Note that some components don't feed audio through HDMI, in which case you will need to use optical digital audio.
