Question about Acer Aspire 3623WXMi Notebook

1 Answer

Broken Fan A few weeks a go a heard faint clicks in the laptop. Then last Sunday I heard noises in the laptop that felt like something got detached and fell within. a few minutes later the laptop shuts down on its own. I try to open it again but it turns off after a few minutes like there was a fifteen minutes limit. I believe that the fan is broken because I no longer hear the fan turn and it heats up even after only 5 minutes of being opened. I want to know if its worth it to even have it repaired. How much would it cost around to do so?

If your laptop is out of warranty,
Acer will first charge you USD 450.
It's look like your problem is fan, they may reduce to USD 200.
but if the problem is related with motherboard, the cost will stay USD 450.

if you still have warranty, just send it for repair, it should be free.

About your problem, it's look like the fan isnot moving, that cause your laptop overheating and then shut off.
and if you are comfortable, you can open it by your self and check if there is something that hold your fans.

Hi,
That blue screen and shut down, means a problem on both OS and Hardisk.
If you got any hardisk for that laptop. try it and am sure it will work.
The faint beep means a good memory card.

Hope that helps!

Unhappy fan noise vaio pcg 3c1m

Only do this if you feel competent in doing so.

Pulling apart laptops is not for the faint of heart.

If you really must do it there are some
good guides here.

An alternative is to get a can of compressed air used to clean computers. Put the nozzle on and spray it in every hole you can see without putting the nozzle itself inside the laptop.

Do this outside with glasses on.

You may also want to remove the hard drive and ROM drive.

Take a
peek here for more ideas of what is involved.

There are a few are tips for various things in there.

DON'T touch the CPU cooler unless you know what you are doing and have some thermal grease for CPUs to hand.

To make newer laptops last longer between cleaning a good 3 fan cooling pad is suggested.

Never use a laptop on soft surfaces as the ventilation can act as a mini vacuum cleaner and encourage dirt build up.

Soft surfaces also block the vents causing fans to run more and burn out sooner.

Hope this gives you the information you need

Hi There!

The fan may be a little loose that cools the processor. Give us a call and we can check it over for you and replace it for a new fan.

CPU fan issues

The fan may not stay on all the time - its a feature of laptops to help save power. The fan is also variable speed. As the CPU gets hotter, the fan speeds up. When the CPU isn't being used as much and is cooler, the fan slows or even stops. It turns on to full speed when you first turn the laptop on as part of the BIOS system check.

The noise is another issue. You could have a broken "fin" or fan blade. The bearing could be going out. Something may have simply "crawled" inside the fan's output vent. In any case it may be worth your time to have a professional open up the laptop and look at the fan. I have heard a LOT of noisy laptop fans in my day, and believe me it's not the worst thing to put up with.

Noisy fan after a few minutes start up

Yeah. i had this problem too. the fan is noisy because it is garbage. it needs to be replaced if you want to get rid of the noice. you moving the laptop wen the noise first started is just coincidence. the heatsink is fine, but the fan itself is poorly made. The ball bearings get loose and so the fan doesnt stay in its vertical plane and it kind of shakes a little, thats why it makes the noise. if you open it up and turn your laptop on, and wait for the noise, you will notice that if you push down lightly on the center of the fan, the noise goes away, because you are creating pressure at it's center of gravity point which makes it stop wobbling. you wont see the wobbling with the naked eye, because its much to slight to see, but its definatly enough to make that annoying fighter jet take-off noise..

as far as the noise, thats the sound it makes when something is wrong with the battery (if you ever drain it all the way down and try to boot it, it will make the noise) kind of messed up noise in my opinion, but its not a big deal, as long as it doesnt repeat.

for the fan, you dont need to replace it if you dont use your laptop a lot, you can try to keep your laptop cooler to keep the fan from turning on also. i suggest one of those USB fan pads that you put under the laptop, or a thermal pad, thermapak makes one for $30 i think, and it drops temps by 6 degrees celcius they claim, i dont know exact numbers but if def helped me. you can also try to put something in the back to keep the back elevated (where all the heat is) and the fan wont spin as much.

i know with desktop fans that get lots of use, noise is the 1st sign of fan failure to come, but ive been using my laptop with that god awful noise for about 4months now, and its still alive and kicking.

good luck!

Hearing noise while switching on/off

Monitor clicks, pops, or makes other noises. Noise when turned on or off. It is normal for standard computer CRT .

How can I make my computer quieter? If your power supply has a power switch on it, you can easily determine how much noise your power supply generates by disconnecting it from the motherboard.

Good Luck, Read and follow instructions/Please dont for get to Vote/Thank You.
