Question about Dishwashers

1 Answer

My Delonghi Dishwasher keeps turning off. The dishwasher is turned on at the power point. The water is turned on. Okay When I press the POWER botton on the front it wont stay on. I have to keep my finger on the POWER button and then press the START button for washer to work. If I do this it will then pump out any water in the bottom and start to work. ***BUT when you take your finger of the POWER button the washer just turns off and stops working. Do you have any idea what could be the problem please.

Yes, the power button is faulty. by pressing the power button forcefully, you are in effect allowing the contacts to close. Replace it.

13 yr old dishwasher suddenly stopped working mid pre wash. Water left in bottom of machine. Power point is fine. Will not start at all now though. No lights turn on either. Is it fixable ?

If it is 13 years old, it has most likely reached its end of life--whatever the cause, something has malfunctioned. However, a service technician would probably be able to advise.

Can you please tell us the exact model of your dishwasher? What you can try initially is unplug the power cable of your unit for about 10 minutes, then plug it back in. See if that clears the error. Will give you follow up about the E1 error.

How do I uninstall my dishwasher?

Turn off ALL power and water. Move machine until you can see the hoses and power point. Unplug power and switch off, disconnect hoses and turn off any taps/faucets. Fully remove machine. Turn power and water for residence back on.

The touch bottons are clicking on and off and nothing works. I had to shut the washer off in a hurry recently and this is the result.

Make sure the door is completely closed and latched. On models with a dual-digit display, the control displays "- -" during a cycle if it believes the door is not latched. Check for obstructions (spoons, etc), interfering with the door operation. A lower dish rack that is installed backward will also cause incomplete door closure. Is there power to the dishwasher Check your household electrical box to see if a fuse has blown or if the circuit breaker has tripped. I do not have manual for this dishwasher and am unable to start cycle, has been working up until today have checked obvious things like power and water. I usually press start botton then press P until it...

Possible that the controller unit has got some errors or is faulty. remove the mains plug and keep aside for few minutes. Then switch on to test. If there is no result then you might have to check the power to the controller unit. Use a multimeter to test the voltages to the circuit . Make sure you take all precautions when dealing with power circuits.

Hooked up new dishwasher and no water to it when turn it on.

Sounds like you're a real DIY (do-it-yourselfer)....great!

Try these steps:

Turn off the water supply valve to the dishwasher. Disconnect the water to the fill valve. Place a shallow pan under the water line and open the water valve slowly. If you have water flowing up to this point, check the power to dishwasher. If no water, check the water supply and anything that might keep water from flowing.

If you have water, then look at the inlet screen to the water fill valve. Sometimes, when a new water supply is hooked up, some sedimentation occurs and gets into the inlet screen at the water valve. Check this and clean it out as needed. Not all units have these screens.

Make sure you have removed any shipping plugs or other items that could prevent the unit from operating.

Drain pump won't turn off, all lights are blinking

Try pushing the cancel button. Try holding the cancel button down. If it'll let you select a cycle, try running a cycle. Try putting a large volume of water in there. It might either clear the pump or it will "see" the water going out be satisfied. If it remembers the cycle you last ran, or which cycle you usually run, run a cycle that it's not used to. That helps clear the computer some dishwashers. Failing that, try turning the circuit breaker off for a minute. Press every button on the dishwasher. There's a chance that that will help drain any power stored, making the computer forget what condition it was in. Failing that, try turning the circuit breaker off or for a day or two. Failing that, if you know what you're doing and you're not worried about voiding the warranty, open up the control panel where the main circuit board is. We can assume that if it remembered this cycle with the power turned off for a while that there's a battery in there to keep from clearing the memory. Find the little button cell battery and take it out for a few minutes. Then put it back in and turn the power on. There may a reset button hidden inside there or somewhere else on the machine. Find the manual at home or on the internet and look in the troubleshooting section. There might be a specific button combination to clear that condition.
To keep this from happening in the future, pick up and install a dishwasher air gap for around $15. It's really easy and keeps water from backing up into the dishwasher. They're actually required in a lot of cities.

1) Ensure the dishwasher is turned off.
2) (may not apply) Turn the plastic blue lever located under the sink to the vertical position (this opens the valve, so water can go into the dishwasher)
3) Pour powder indo the dishwasher
4) Turn the dishwasher controller to the top position (the 12 o’clock position) – this is the eco-setting.
5) Press the on/power button on the dishwasher, so that it now turned on (a light will display)
6) Move the dishwasher controller to the “R” position (it’s on the very left), and leave it there a second or two.
7) Move the dishwasher controller back to the eco-setting (the 12 o’clock position
