GE Profile Harmony Dryer - not drying clothes

Hello,

It appears that my dryer is no longer drying clothes it does generate heat but doesn't dry any clothes. I disconnected the vent in the back to make sure that there wasn't a problem with the vent, although I doubted it because the house is only 3 years old, then to smell a burning smell the next time we started the dryer. Do you have any idea what the problem is and what I should do?

Thanks,

I have the same issue, a GE profile Electric dryer that's heating up, but not drying clothes. It will work for a little while, then quit working. I'll take my yard blower and blow out the internal filter vent, and the vent pipe leading to the outside of the house to make sure there isn't a lint blockeage....then after a few loads, it'll stop drying again.

Hello, I'm having problems with my dryer. I have a GE Profile Harmony Dryer and its not drying like it should, I have to run the cycle 4 or 5 times for it to get hot and dry the clothes... It also has...

The first thing to do is ensure that the outlet air vent is not clogged with lint, socks, or other obstructions. It may be clogged at a point outside the dryer, so you might have to move the dryer out of the way, then use a flashlight and mirror to look into the vent.

If it is not clogged, then the problem is likely the heating element or heat sensor.

Good luck!

My GE Profile Harmony dryer won't dry. The drum is turning but the clothes just won't dry. Circuit breaker is not tripped.

Frequently there's an obstruction in the vent duct from the dryer to the outside of the house. For the dryer to heat properly, the duct must be clean and clear of lint or any other substance. Your dryer has some internal ductwork. If it gets clogged, your dryer can't dry properly. In most dryers, to get to the internal ductwork to clear the clog, you have to substantially disassemble the dryer. A quick way to check for internal clogs is to remove the lint filter and use a flashlight to inspect the inside of the duct.

Does not seem to heat as much as it did when new. Takes longer to dry clothes.

I would say the vent is restricted, to check that remove vent tube and see if it is drying better. Just in case I am wrong here are some websites that will help you, Tim:

My GE Profile Harmony Dryer is no longer Heating

Does it get hot when you turn it on, and then never gets hot again while its running? On my dryer the solenoid broke, when the dryer was cold it worked and the dryer operated properly because the dryer and solenoid were cold and the solenoid wire was closed, when the dryer was hot enough the solenoid opened and the heat would not restart. the solenoid is a coiled wire which is used to open the gas valve.

GE Harmony electric dryer model DPGT750EC1PL- very little heat - small rattle - takes hours to dry load of laundry... any ideas?

Check the following to address this issue.

Note: Normal drying time for a dryer is about 45 minutes (some may take up to an hour).

1. Venting
Make sure the dryer vent hose, as well as the rest of the vent duct, is not clogged.

Unless regular maintenance is performed, chances are there is a lot of lint accumulated inside the dryer. This might affect the drying time and could be a fire hazard. Make sure to have your dryer cleaned regularly. Because this might involve taking most of the dryer apart, it is recommended to have a qualified appliance repairman perform this task.

2. Thermostat
There are a couple of cycling thermostats inside the dryer. If one of them breaks down, it might affect the dryer's performance. Replace the defective thermostat.

3. Heating element
A heating element might only be partially burned out, in which case it would still work but will take longer time to dry the clothes. Replace the element if found defective.

your blower motor is probably not working. enter the troubleshooting mode by pressing and holding my cycles and help at the same time for 3 seconds. this will tell you the problem. if blower is not getting up to speed you'll have to replace it.
