This is cause by your inverter. When they go bad you will either have a dim screen or intermittent screen flashes. You will need to call the manufacturer for a replacement and the installation is actually not that difficult.
Refer to my article detailing how this is done in my Tips section.

Wont shift out of second when hot

Hi Joe, it could be as as simple as a proper clutch adjusment or a more serious problem in the transmission, shifter fork, shifter pawl, or shifter cam ect. Do yourself a huge favor and pick up the best tool you will ever buy, a service manual. It will trouble shoot the problem for you and walk you through repair and quick fixes if there are any. And it almost always pays for it's self the very first time you use it. Good luck

Trouble shooting

for trouble shooting an air conditioner or heater its always important to ask your self one question before getting your hands in their-What is it doing and what is it not doing. This is the fundamental question to ask yourself no matter what machine your working on(washer dryer, dishwasher, microwave etc).If your unit is blowing air but not cooling 90% of the time your problem is in the condensor section of the unit.

Electronic Automatic Temperature Control Module Self-Test
  • NOTE: The vehicle interior and exterior temperatures should be between 10° - 32.2°C (50° - 90°F) when carrying out the self-test. If the temperature is not within the specified range, false in-vehicle temperature sensor DTCs will be displayed.
The EATC module self-test will detect concerns in the system control functions and will display hard diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) in addition to continuous diagnostic trouble codes for concerns that occur during system operation.
  • The self-test can be initiated at any time. Normal operation of the system stops when the self-test is activated.
  • NOTE: The key must be in the RUN position to enter the self-test.
To enter the self-test, press the OFF and floor position buttons simultaneously and then press the AUTOMATIC button within two seconds. The display will show a pulse tracer around the center of the display window. The test may run as long as 30 seconds. Record all DTCs displayed.
  • If any DTCs are retrieved during the self-test, proceed to Electronic Automatic Temperature Control (EATC) Module Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index.
  • If a condition exists but no DTCs are retrieved during the self-test, proceed to Symptom Chart.
  • To exit self-test and retain all continuous DTCs, push the blue (cooler) TEMP button. The module will exit self-test, retain all continuous DTCs and then turn off (display blank).
  • To exit the self-test and clear all DTCs, press the defrost button. The display will show 888 and all function symbols for one second. The module will then turn off (display blank) and all DTCs will be cleared.
  • Always exit the self-test before turning the EATC system off.
  • Continuous DTCs will be deleted after 80 ignition switch ON cycles after a continuous condition occurs.

My Sony Wega KV-36FS13 is 9 + years old. The last six months I have had trouble turning it on. Now I get five blinks on the timer, no picture. Could this cost $200 or more to repair?

I suspect tube tracking due to its age.

AKB circuit (automatic kine bias), the timer/standby indicator blinks for about 30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function. Something is wrong with the video. Check video out, Q705, 732, 761 and other components on the C board, also check Q218, 219, 220 on the A board. In addition, unit could be in IK blanking, try turning up screen slightly.

You need to set the shooting mode. Press the shooting mode dial lock button and turn the shooting mode dial to the desired setting. The self-timer is marked with a one-handed clock.

TV does not turn ON and red light keeps flashing six times stops reapeats again with six times red flashing

Sounds like a power supply issue. order a new power supply or trouble-shoot the current. Look for any capacitors that are bulged up on the top and not flat.

Displays 104 when it is 65 control is whacky'is it sensor or thermostat, or what

Try this test for codes

Electronic Automatic Temperature Control Module Self-Test
  • The EATC module self-test will not detect concerns associated with data link messages like engine coolant temperature or vehicle speed signals. A diagnostic tool must be used to retrieve these concerns.
  • The EATC module self-test will detect concerns in the system control functions and will display hard diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) in addition to intermittent diagnostic trouble codes for concerns that occur during system operation. The vehicle interior temperature should be between 4°-32°C (40-90°F) when carrying out the self-test. If the temperatures are not within the specified ranges, false in-car temperature sensor DTCs will be displayed.
  • The self-test can be initiated at any time. Normal operation of the system stops when the self-test is activated.
  • To enter the self-test, press the OFF and FLOOR buttons simultaneously and then press the AUTOMATIC button within two seconds. The display will show a pulse tracer going around the center of the display window. The test may run as long as 30 seconds. Record all DTCs displayed.
  • If any DTCs appear during the self-test, follow the diagnostics procedure given under ACTION for each DTC given.
  • If a condition exists but no DTCs appear during the self-test, GO to Symptom Chart Condition: The EATC System Is Inoperative, Intermittent or Improper Operation.
  • To exit self-test and retain all intermittent DTCs, push the blue (cooler) button. The control will exit self-test, retain all intermittent diagnostic trouble codes and then turn OFF (display blank).
  • To exit the self-test and clear all DTCs, press the DEFROST button. The vacuum fluorescent display window will show 888 and all function symbols for one second. Then, the EATC control assembly will turn OFF (display blank) and all DTCs will be cleared.
  • Always exit the self-test before powering the system down (system turned OFF).
  • Intermittent DTCs will be deleted after 80 ignition switch ON cycles after the intermittent condition occurs.

Pulling the trouble codes using a volt meter.

Self-Test with Analog Voltmeter DTCs will be represented by pulsing or sweeping movements of the voltmeter's needle across the dial face of the voltmeter (Figure 9). A single-digit number of three will be reported by three needle pulses (sweeps). However, a DTC is represented by a two-digit or three-digit number, such as 2-3. As a result, the DTC of 2-3 will appear on the voltmeter as two needle pulses (sweeps). After a two-second pause, the needle will pulse (sweep) three times.
The Continuous Memory DTCs are separated from the Key On Engine Off DTCs by a six-second delay, a single half-second sweep, and another six-second delay.

Using an Analog Volt/Ohm Meter (VOM)
  1. Turn the ignition key off.
  1. Set the VOM on a DC voltage range to read from 0 to 15 volts.
  1. Connect the VOM from the battery positive post to the Self-Test Output pin of the large Data Link Connector (DLC) (Figure 3).
  1. Connect the timing light.
17fa78e.gif Using the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) No special equipment hookup is required. STI is jumpered to SIG RTN at Self-Test Input (STI) connector and the Data Link Connector (DLC).

Self-Test with Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) During Self-Test, a DTC is reported by the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL). It will flash the "CHECK ENGINE" or "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" light on the dash panel (Figure 10). A single-digit number of three will be reported by three flashes.
However, a DTC is represented by a two-digit or three-digit number, such as 2-3 or three digit. As a result, the Self-Test DTC of 2-3 will appear on the MIL as two flashes, then, after a two-second pause, the MIL will flash three times.
The Continuous Memory DTCs are separated from the Key On Engine Off DTCs by a six-second delay, a single half-second flash, and another six-second delay.

Where can I get a manual for this 35 mm camera? Canon does not have one on line.

The dial has six positions. If you rotate the dial fully clockwise, you are at the "Auto" position. In this position, the flash will fire if light is insufficient.
One click counterclockwise from this is "Auto with Redeye Reduction", and a preflash lamp will fire before the shutter to reduce redeye.
The next click counterclockwise is the "Off" position.
The next click counterclockwise is the "Flash On" position, and the flash will always fire with the shutter.
The next click counterclockwise is the "Flash Off" position, and the flash will not fire.
Full counterclockwise is the "Self Timer" position, and the shutter will fire 10 seconds after the button is depressed.
