Take a look at a site called DVD REVIEWER. Or do a search. I have made all my dvd players region free. Every dvd player is capable of going region free. You just have to find the "secret code" to unlock it. There is a way.
Let me know if you can't find it, and I will dig up the site for you.

If you wantto play DVDs from any region you maybe able to upgrade the firmware to make itregion free BUT if you make a mistake or installed the wrong firmware theplayer will be a piece of junk. The best solution to make the player region free is to install a piece ofsoftware that allows you to play DVDs from any region. There are severalavailable on the Internet but my favourite is DVD-Region Free

Monitors don't need drivers, video cards do. You will need to find out your exact model of video card by running this program:
http://www.piriform.com/speccy then go to the site of its manufacturer and you will find its exact driver there, in the Downloads section.
Check all power connections and surge arrestors to the ON position. Or if possible, try hooking up the monitor to a different source. You can use for instance, a laptop, some dvd players using s-video, etc. If the monitor works, then try a different video card. When buying components for assembly at home, it's not uncommon for them to arrive unoperational or DOA. Use a reputable dealer that has a good return policy. Hope this helps.
