Easy thing to do is get the price of a new scanner (flat bed), but if you want to save money then open you flat bed assembly and then open up the scanner use a lint free cloth to gently clean the mirrors, and then put it back the way you took it out and it should fix the issue in most cases

1. Clean Glass Scanner Bed.
2. Try the NVRAM INITZ reset procedure. REF
3. Remove paper scrap or dust obstructing scanner or sensor. REF
4. Clean sensor / remove the glass and clean the bulb and mirrors. REF
5. Scanner Bulb is not getting to the alignment area.
