I have an old mitsubishi TV model cs 35203 serial 515512, and all that shows up on the screen is a thin horizontal line through the middle.

You either have a cold solder connection on the vertical output IC401 or a failure of the Vertical output IC altogether. The part number should be labeled clearly on the front of the chip and is likely LA7836 or LA7837. It's difficult to reference parts on a set this old. Remove the chassis and visibly inspect the solder connections. If they look good, replace the chip. Good luck

Need to find horizontal adjustment

You have bad capacitors next to your vertical IC. And be sure to solder the rings around the bottom of the vertical IC. There are no customer controls that will cure this. You need a tv tech!

My tv has many lines in the screen. what kind of problem is this and what does it need to be fixed?

You may be suggesting a convergence problem..when the blue and red boxes will not center. You have bad grounds on the convergence ICs. Resolder or replace theses ICs. Or you may be asking about a problem in the vertical section. Vertical problems will appear as horizontal lines on the TV. In this case you have bad capacitors near ithe vertical IC and must also resolder or replace the vertical IC.

I have a Mitsubishi CS-3125R that displays a horizontal line with sound. I suspect the horizontal transistor is out and cannot find one. Any ideas?

You are misleading yourself. When you have a horizontal line across the screen it means that the vertical circuit is not working. You see, the vertical circuit moves the beam up and down which is not happening. The horizontal circuit moves the beam left and right and it is working. Your set probably needs a new vertical output IC and some electrolytic capacitors that work with it. The caps dry up with time and harm the output IC.

I have a Mitsubishi TV Receiver CS-40503. The problem is when the power is switch ON a BLUE HORIZONTAL LINE at the middle of the TV is coming out wisth no sound.

No sound is probably because you're not on the right input but the horz line is a failure in the vertical circuit. Could be the vertical Ic itself Ic401 (LA7833) or the feeder caps just in front of it... In either even it in itself not an expensive repair. Be aware though that's an old unit and it is likely that several caps going bad through-out the unit. Make sure that you ask the tech to go through the unit with an ESR meter and test all the remaining caps in the power supply, horizontal, HV and regulation circuits. A little preventative and that set will still be running long after I'm dead and gone...

That sounds like vertical failure. Does the blue line run across the screen from side to side? Try resoldering the vertical output IC and see if that straightens it out. This is sometimes been a problem with that chassis. Let me know how you make out or if you need additional help.

Yes sir change IC 401 and dont forget to change C 920 also. This is a very common problem with this set. If you do not change the capacitor, the IC will fail again in a few weeks or days. PS Dont forget to rate this.
