How can I lock the wheels?

Hello Anthony;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.

Whom ever installed your refrigerator did not do a good job.

You did not provide a model number which is located on a label in the liner inside your fresh food section.

1.) You have a bottom grill or toe plate in the bottom front of your refrigerator. Remove this. It is held in place by either a fastener screw one on each side or clips about 2" in form each side. Either remove the screws if you have them or just pull on the bottom grill straight out to remove it.

2.) Generally you have two leveling screws one on each side of your refrigerator. Turn them clock wise to raise the front end of your refrigerator. You want to raise them to the point where you hold the doors open half way and the backward tilt will close the door without you shutting it.

Get back to me with the model number. There are several other locking and adjustment mechanisms, if I have guessed wrong.

I need to clean the grill in hotpoint refrigerator. When I hope the door to the freezer there two screws hold down grill. The refrigerater is model No. HTS16HBMBRCC HOTPOINT

General Electric (GE) Profile refrigerators have a grille on the bottom of the front of the refrigerator. The grille allows air to be pulled from the kitchen into the lower compartment of the appliance by the condenser fan, which cools the refrigerator's compressor. At times this grille must be removed, such as when you are cleaning the compressor, emptying and cleaning the drain pan or adjusting the refrigerator's leveling legs to level the appliance. The grille is designed for easy removal: It is secured in place using only two screws
  • 1 Open the refrigerator doors to at least 90 degrees.
  • 2 Remove the two Phillips screws securing the grille to the cabinet. They are at the top portion of the front of the grille.
  • 3 Pull the grille away from the front of the cabinet to remove it.

  • Phillips screwdriver
    will be needed

Putting in the new water filter to the Whirlpool gold fridge that goes in at the bottom.

Removing a water filter from the base grill of your Whirlpool brand refrigerator:

Removing and replacing a water filter - base grill location

Filters situated in the base grill (below the freezer compartment) of Whirlpool-built side-by-side refrigerators are relatively simple to replace. Follow these two steps:
    1. Grasp the filter's end and make a one-quarter turn to the left.
    2. Pull the filter straight out.
To replace with a new filter, repeat these two steps in the opposite order, making sure to first remove the red cap from the filter. Proceed by pushing the filter straight into the slot, and then giving it a one quarter turn to the right.
Note: Replacing this type of filter is quick - there is no need to unplug your refrigerator when replacing it. Also, this filter should be replaced every six months.

Whirlpool ref model #ED5PVEXVS00, need filter for this model. We don't know the part number needed or where on the refrigerator that the filter is located. Please help with both

The original part number is 4396841; cartridge T2RFWG2. The filter fits into the grill at the bottom of the refrigerator (nearly centered on the left hand side of the grill). There is a cap covering the filter.

The fridge can be used without a filter if the cap is taken off the old filter and put back into place. For a diagram that includes the filter and grill location see: . The filter is part 30 in the diagram. The entire set of parts diagrams, leading to parts list and prices are available here: .

Another on-line source for the filter is: .

    I hope this helps.

Vacuum condenser light of sub zero 650 is on - how to clean it

We recommend vacuuming your condenser every 3 - 6 months. Cleaning the condenser is important for the overall operations of the unit including cooling functions. A dirty condenser may lead to warm temperatures in the refrigerator and freezer. It may also cause the unit to run excessively. It may contribute to condensation or frost inside of the compartments. If the condenser is not cleaned properly it may even cause premature failure of mechanical components in the unit. Condenser Cleaning - All Models Before cleaning the unit, shut the electricity off at the control panel. When you clean the condenser, wear gloves to avoid injury from the sharp condenser fins. Use a soft bristle brush and vacuum to remove dust and lint from the condenser. To avoid bending the condenser fins, be sure to vacuum in the direction of the fins, up and down. Clean the condenser every three to six months or sooner if you have pets. 600 Series Framed and Stainless Steel louvered grilles: First remove the grille screws located at the bottom of the grille. Tilt the top of the grille forward and release the springs from behind the grille, then lift off. Overlay Panel Grille: To remove, lift up then pull out at the bottom and down to release from its mounting bracket. Remove the two black screws in the lowest louver of the grille. Tilt the bottom of the grille out and away. It will release from the top of the grille. Model 601RG Stainless Steel Grille: Remove in a similar fashion as the overlay grille panel. 700 Series All Units: At the bottom of the unit, remove the four screws holding the kick plate/grille in place. It will then slide forward, giving you access to the condenser area. 400 Series 424/424FS At the bottom of the unit, remove the screws holding the kick plate. The condenser is located behind. 427/427R: Remove the four screws holding the kick plate/grille in place. It will then slide forward, giving you access to the condenser area. 430: First remove the screws located at the bottom of the grille. NOTE: These screws (Phillips head) are accessed with the door open. Tilt the top of the grille forward and release the springs from behind the grille, then lift off. 200 Series 245, 249, 315W Remove the kick plate at the bottom of the unit, giving you access to the condenser area.

Most refrigerators have a catch basin under the cabinet that is accessible after removal of the trim at the bottom.  This trim grill can have a half-dozen different fasteners on it although most have plastic extensions that are inserted into matching holes in the sheet metal that forms the base of the unit.
Try (gently) lifting the bottom lip of the grill while pulling it outward; if this frees the bottom edge, then angle the grill outward at the bottom and pulling it downward to free the upper edge. On some units there may also be a knob-like section that when turned releases the grill.
You didn't mention brand and model but with these, you should be able to find a downloadable manual on line that would detail how to remove the grill.
Once the grill is out of the way, most catch basins simply are lifted up and pulled out for cleaning and emptying.
To fully rid the fridge of odors, it may be necessary to pour hot (not boiling) water down any drains you see in each compartment several times to flush them.  Obviously, the catch basin should be in place when doing this and they can be quite shallow.
    Good luck-
