Question about Rex RX-1804

Open Question

I bought a Rex 1804 sewing machine from Overstock and before I could open it, I came home to find that a pipe burst and I had water damage. The "clean up crew" that came out stole my brand new sewing machine but when I realized the next day that they were thieves, I canceled the contract and insisted that they return it. They did return it in a plastic bag but I did not realize that they did not return all the parts (the proprietary power cord nor the (foot?) pedal that controls the speed of the machine). I would like to find parts for a Rex 1804 sewing machine so I do not have to throw away this brand new machine. Thank you.

SOURCE: In need of welt foot for rex 26-188 sewing

Well I'm not sure if this is a solution but, most walking foot machines are either like the Juki 562 or 3 and the Singer 111, 211  or newer models. REX's are particularly original, they should be using a very similar welting foot. Many industrial sewing stores in LA have them.. Kyle

SOURCE: My dad bought a new

I'm assuming that your talking about the needle bar (where you put the needle in) that doesn't go up high enough. The needle bar has a screw that secures it in place, and if you loosen it you will be able to slide up the needle bar high enough to be able to put your needle in. Now this bar does have a set height that it's suppose to be, so you'll have to set the timing of the needle bar when you loosen the screw. Loosen the screw, move the needle bar up enough to so you can put a needle in. Set it on wide zig zag. When the needle is on the up stroke the hook tip should pass behind the needle just above the eye of the needle. The hook is the piece the the bobbin case mounts on. If the hook tip faces to the right you have to time it with the needle on the right swing of the widest zig zag. If the hook faces to the left, just the opposite.

I am looking for a manual for The Rex 1804 need to know where to oil it

The rule of thumb about oiling your sewing machine is to put one drop of oil (sewing machine oil only, please!) wherever one metal part moves against another. Do that, and you won't go wrong. You can also look for the oil ports -- small holes in metal gears and housings--I've posted a good photo at you put one drop of sewing machine oil. Don't use oil on the gears themselves--use sewing machine grease instead.

Oil ports and places where metal moves against metal can be found in three locations: on the top of the machine, under the cover; on the bottom of the machine; and behind the access door (or panel) on the left side of the machine head.

Here's a generic sketch:

Note: Please refer to your sewing machine manual to see if your machine is self-oiling. If it is, disregard this note--you do not oil those machines.

I have the Rex518 with the original instructional manual, but the translation into English was very poor. The MSK555 is published so you can understand the manual, and figure out how to use your machine. I too am a first time user of a blind hemming machine.
Good Luck.
