Do you get the F1 on both drawers or just one - which one?

The cause is flood relay turning on. This means water has got into the base of the housing under the drawer. This could be due to foaming by use of incorrect detergent or usually leak in door seal or water hoses.

Get the lower drawer out and dry the base with towels and hair dryer.

Make sure the mains power is turned off first.

Then put the drawer back and start dishwasher.

It may just do it again unless you address the cause, which is any of the following:

Inlet hose to inlet valve connection loose
    Inlet valve body leak
Damage to the fill or drain hoses
    Heater plate damage (chipped enamel)
Seals/O Rings (pinched, contaminated or poor join)
Dispenser (seal, diverter valve or weld leak)
Lid area (lid motors not functioning correctly, lid off yoke or foreign object interfering with lid seal).

It's most often the last one.
A 603 drawer can leak - and cause an F1 - just during normal use.
Because the lid comes down after shutting the draw, if the user has stacked a pan or utensil in the draw that almost touches the top, it can prevent the lid from coming down and making the seal. So it will leak just for that wash.

This scenario never happened with the 601 models because they didn't have a lid that came down to make a seal. (They solved one problem but caused another!)

    Alternatively...
On a 603 model, the lids get wound down when you close the draw. It's possibly a dead lid-seal motor. There are 2 worm-drive motors on either side, connecting to the lid via a yoke. F

F1 flood switch is on

The F1 code in both drawers could mean flood at base of dishwasher (under bottom drawer) . If it is occuring only in bottom drawer then it is likely the power circuit for top drawer is blown.

Need to know which of the above to give advise on how to fix.

Machine powers on by itself both drawers.. with the error message

F1 can mean two things - depending on which drawer it is coming in.

It is a sign that the water is leaking from the drawers into the base of the housing and tripping the flood switch.

To fix this you will have to take the drawers out and dry out the flood switch at the base of the housing. Use towels and hair dryer. Most like the dishwasher detergent is foaming or the door seal is leaking or the outlet drain is cracked. Make sure the mains power is turned off when you are working on the dishwasher.

The other reason is if the thermal cutout is blown in the lower drawer that can cause the F1 to appear in top drawer. But if both drawers are flashing F1 then this is unlikely.

My Fisher Paykel dishwasher is flashing F1 - top drawer only. The bottom drawer is working just fine.

F1 error means the flood switch in the drawer is activated. If there is water inside when you open the drawer then you will have to manually empty it with a small container.

Most likely the solenoid that controls inlet water is faulty or the water level sensor is faulty.

Try turning the mains power and water off and on again and run dishwasher. If fault persists then you may have replace the parts.

HI my fiser and paykel dishwasher is flashing f1 and is showing a spanner whay does this mean

The F1 error means a flood switch has been activated in the drawer. The spanner means you need to call a technician.

The possible causes are that the solenoid that controls the water inlet does not shut off or the sensor that detects the water level is not working. Also it is possible the water pressure is not optimum for the setting on your unit.

Fisher & Paykel single drawer dishwasher F1 flashing.

F1 indicates a problem with the Flood sensor. I cleaned all the filters etc. removed the drawer viewed under the drawer, it was dry. There is nothing further I can do, so called the Appliances repair person and booked an appointment for him to determine if an outlet hose is blocked or has a hole in it or whatever. Thanks for all the suggestions Blokes. I'm technically challenged. Happy New Year

F1 is a flood code meaning excessive amounts of water have collected on the bottom catch basin. If a flood condition is detected, both draws will activate the drain motors and flash F1. Remove the bottom drawer and dry the catch basin.
There are three possible scenarios; 1. Defective lid motor(s)...Each drawer has two lid motors that pull the lid tight to the drawer when the cycle is started. (this was very common on early models) 2. Something too tall was placed in the drawer preventing the lid from closing completely. OR 3. (only seen this once) the drain hose developed a crack causing water to leak only when draining. Hope this helps....
