Question about Whirlpool GU2400XTP Built-in Dishwasher

1 Answer

Turned house water off to repair a leak. We have a surge pressure tank as we have well water. The dishwasher now does not fill up with water. We always get a surge of dirty water when we first turn the house water from the well back on. Is there a filter to the dishwasher feed that could be clogged?

Hi,
Yes.. the filter is right at the fill valve where the water connects to the dishwasher...

Here is a tip the will elaborate on your problem more, but the bottom line is that you need to replace that fill valve...

Just replaced all my hoses did everything i needed to work on a heater and all went well until I turned on my breaker and the top of the tank where the wires are connected started to smoke

it definitely needs to dry out when dry you need to test the components --thermostat--the element [s] --if damaged repair or replace most reasons hot water heaters are replaced is because the tank leaks or rusts out --the components are easily replaceable and inexpensive

Recently had leak in water between mains and house. Pipe replaced. Then washing machine wouldn't fill.Replaced solenoid valve -works now.The dishwasher Simpson EZISET 52B850WJ*03 won't fill.Same?

Could be dirt in the water lines after you repaired. You should always run your taps for a while before running machines that use water. I like to run water from my out side taps if I have outside repairs.

My dishwasher Fagor fi-80 just fills continuously, till overflowing. How should it know its full? I cant see any sensors.

It uses an air bell to turn the depth of water into air pressure, then a pressure switch senses this pressure.

Down inside the wash tank, you'll see the air bell. Usually grey, a flattened rounded rectangle tapering wider towards its lower end, stuck to the side of the tank.
Take the panel off the machine, and on the dry side of the tank you'll see a little hose leading away from the bell towards the pressure switch.

Four of the more common failures....
1) Water valve stuck open. It'll keep filling even with the electricity turned off.
2) Air bell leaking. Crumbling plastic bits not unknown, this machine could be 15 years old by now.
3) Pressure switch stuck. Blowing into the switch you should hear a 'click'.
4) Most common - a build up of fat in the top of the air bell, blocking the sensing tube. With the machine empty of water, take the pipe off at the pressure switch end, and blow into it. This should dislodge any fat/debris. In extremis, slacken the nut holding the air bell to the tank, rotate the bell upright and give it a good wash out.

Ao smith 1 horse house water pump. water pump only fills tank half way to 3 /4 . pump does not stop running.. water pump leaking a little water out of water valve spiot

Hi, W/D here.
The tank has to have an air cushion in it for the water to be delivered as water is not compressible. Ideally, the water is expelled from the tank without air leaving the tank, and then the pump starting to refill the tank. The air in the tank is supplied either by an air bladder installed in the tank, or by an air injection system where a little air is injected into the tank every time the pump runs and shuts off.
A little leak at the pump is not a big deal, but should be capped off or the faucet repaired/replaced at your earliest convenience. Ideally, the water level in the tank should be closer to 80%; so if you have an air injection system, you might let a little air out of the tank (if you have a top valve), and this might cure your cycling problem. With the tank level as is, you are probably getting some air in your lines into the house. If you have an air bladder in the tank, the required pressure of the bladder, with no water in the tank should be on a sticker located at the schrader valve on the top of the tank (A schrader valve is similar to the air inlet valve on a bicycle tire). The ones I am familiar with are set around 28-29 psi. If you have an air injection system, it may need to be replaced. If the costs are close, I would elect to go with a bladder tank, as I've found that they eliminate many of the problems associated with the air injection type.
Fix or cap the faucet so you have no leaks showing at the pump or tank. Catch the pump running, and wait for it to shut off. When it does, close the discharge valve to the house and wait. You may need to trip the breaker for the pump. Watch the pressure gauge. If the pressure falls, the problem is with the well, and you may need to pull the inside well supply line from the casing and make repairs at the foot. My experience has been that it is better to replace the leathers, jet valve and foot valve all at once than to hope they hold if I repaired only one part.
If the gauge holds after 10 minutes, open the valve. If the pressure falls, the problem is on the house side of the valve.
Resolve any issues on the well before checking further, as that's where most well problems originate.
Adjust your tank level and pressure. If the pump continues to cycle, you may need to replace your pressure switch.
Best regards, --W/D--

Dishwasher leaks at start

Is the washer not "over filling" due to the water fill vacume pipe and micro switch that shuts off the water once the correct level blocked or restricted due to fatty residue? This could also be one of the washer pipes clogged up and increasing the pressure in the fill tank.

Leaks water from bottom of door. Error code E7 ?

I found this and it also may have to do with the door seals...how old is the unit...if door seals get old and stiff..(not soft and pliable) they sometimes leak...after usage the heat and moisture may cause them to swell and or become soft thereby sealing better...but this is what I found in the user manual.

Machine displays "E7" on LX30 model or "CLEAN PROBE" on LX40 model.
1. Clean water sensors inside tank.
It suggests contacting Hobart if this fails but I also found this problem is associated with fill issues...as in an E4 error...this what you do in that case....

Machine won't fill or won't fill high enough(LX18, LX30 display shows "E0," "E2," "E3," or "E4")

1.Low water pressure — check for clogged hose strainer; check that site water pressure meets minimum flow pressures.
2.Make sure probes are clean.
3.No water pressure — main water supply valves may not be working.
4.Drain valve open - turn machine off to drain machine, then on. Repeat twice (this assists in clearing any drain valve obstructions). Wait for machine to reach READY mode and press WASH. Slowly open door several seconds later and note water level. Close door; 30 seconds later, open door slowly and check that water level is the same as it was. If not, repeat the
OFF-ON procedure.
5. Delime machine.

Good Luck and I hope this helps...let me know if it doesn't and i am sure I can get to the bottom of it...thanks for rating my effort...the Fang.

Pump Continuously surges

hi,im a hobart service tech.couple of things to try (you may already have)--check the wash arms at the seams make sure their not cracked, make sure the drain is sealed and not leaking at all.if the unit loses any water or the wash arms are cracked at the seam the unit will sound like its starving for water.make sure the unit is leveled.next time you go back if its acting up pour a half gallon of water in the tank and see if it runs correctly,if it does you could be losing water or the water fill vave could be acting up and not letting enough water in.let me know.

No Water

there may be a few things causing this, a blocked supply/transfer hose in the base, a blocked meter tank at the side of the dishwasher, turned off water supply, a faulty water valve, the unit is in "flood mode" and has a leak in the base and will not allow any more water in(check by tipping the dishwasher 45% sidewards to see if water leaks out or the water is coming in but you are not seeing it because the wash motor is jammed or seized.
