Question about Microsoft Xbox 360 Console

2 Answers

No Audio Hi, My son is having audio problems with his XBOX 360 headset. He says he is able to talk and other players can hear him, but he cannot hear them when they speak. He says he has the volume turned up and that the connector is plugged into the console correctly. I asked him if there is a software volume control in the program and he says he didn't see one. Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Al Brewer hidef1146@yahoo.com

There is a setting under the xbox blade and personal settings under headset volume. Play with these options until you hear people again. Yay!

Hello i have a Turtlebeach headset from the website (i Think it is the cheapest one there, maybe the Ear forch XLC) anyway i also have a JVC DVD/Audio player which my surround speakers run off, i have...

You need to make sure that players voices are setup correctly to come through the headset rather than the TV, this is done via the Xbox itself, I can't exactly remember the details but it should advise you in the instructions for your TurtleBeach headset.

This is probebly just a faulty headset, my son seems to get through 3 or 4 sets a year,In your post you have not mentioned anything you have tried, so have you tried a different headset to see if that works?

Bought several pairs of wired eaphones fo son ash can hear his friends but they cannot hear him have phoned customer service team to solve the problem but not solved

Most likely, it isn't the wired headset that is the problem. It may be the controller. If you haven't already, try testing the headset with another controller.
Since hearing and voice are two separate functions, it may be that the controller is only able to send out sound, but not able to pick it up. Test it out with another controller, and hopefully it will work.
But may I suggest a common issue that is overlooked:
Double check the microphone is not muted. (both in the settings of your Xbox 360 AND the mute option found on the wired headset. It's by the volume.) To check this on your Xbox 360 click on the "home" button (top middle part of the controller with the Xbox logo) go to settings ---> preferences. There you will see the option to mute the microphone.
I sincerely hope Microsoft already suggested all of these things though.
Also, better double check that the Microphone isn't muted in Preferences BEFORE trying another controller because if it is muted in Preferences, (which can only be done when signed into a profile) whichever controller he uses, it will be muted to do preferences being set to any controller/headset used. So please double check that it's not the microphone that is muted to start, and then double check the headset isn't muted (on the actual headset) followed by changing controller if it still isn't working.
Hope this was of some help.

Go to your Xbox 360 Dashboard, Network Settings, Test Xbox Live Connection
at the bottom when the test is finished it will tell you what type of NAT your have Strict-Not Good, Moderate-Not Good, Open- No problems.
if it's strict or moderate press more info and it should give you a website that should help you resolve your issue

I can hear people i just cant talk to them

A few reasons for not being able to talk through the mic is that if parental settings are set. Parental settings can stop you from talking and, if set right, can stop you from hearing other people, which isn't the problem. It could also be that the mic on the headset is broken. If it is, you will have to buy a new one. Try using someone else's headset. If theirs works, then it confirms that it is only your headset. If it doesn't, it might mean that either your Xbox 360 remote isn't working right for voice, or parental settings are restricting you from that action.
