Check the water Passing line.Is it frozen or clogged.Check out.also check the solenoid valve is it having power or no power. Also check the fan in the freezer section .Is it running or not running. Also if not getting a seal on that flap. It sounds as if it may be warped. THe reason the frost and ice is building up is due to the flap not sealing there. If all checked ok then its faulty timer or main board. The Defrost system consists of a defrost timer a defrost limit and a heater. On newer GE's the defrost cycle is controlled by the motherboard on the back. Also try manual defrost before doing any other troubleshooting. Unplug the unit.wait for 24 hrs.keep the units door open and empty the unit.after 24 hours connect the power to the electric outlet and set the temperature to normal settings.check out after 3-4 hours. If the problem solves then manual defrost helped.if not then the above mentioned parts needs to be checked and replaced as per faulty/.to get required parts you can get it from www.repairclinic.com
Thanks. Keep updated for any more query. You can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

It sounds like your auger motor has an issue in my opinion. How i check them is: remove ice bin, open freezer door, hold door switch down, depress the freezer ice dispenser button on the door and see if the auger motor has the torque when it turns, if the motor has power and turns but cant turn w/ torque or has power and dosen't turn. you need a new auger motor. lmk if u need more help!

try pulling out the ice bucket, remove all ice and look for signs of damage on the auger mechanism... most of the time the ice tends to clump up and that prevents the auger from moving freely.

Ice dispenser frost build up - Amana refrigirator

This sounds like your ice may be melting and freezing around the chute. You may need to replace that rubber gasket on the chute. Otherwise, if you use a lot of crushed ice, that will build up badly on the chute and you can manually clean that off. I hope this helps you!

GE profile Artica side by side. I am getting a frost build up

Sounds like the dispensor flap is not closing completely , pulling outside air in . Using a flashlight on the outside of the flap , look inside to see if any light is visible . If so , then the ice flap plunger and solenoid will have to be replaced . Also , excessive crushed ice can also cause frosting .
