Question about Toshiba Satellite A25-S2792 Notebook

1 Answer

I just upgraded the ram in a Toshiba A25-S279 laptop. Following the manual the power button panel was removed, then the keyboard was removed to access the ram. New ram was installed, every thing was put back in place and the power button was pushed. The computer came on but display did not illuminate. Went back in and reinstalled the original ram and turned computer back on and got the same result of the display not coming up. Looked through the manual to determine if a combination of the Fn key + a Function Key might have turned off the display and tried several combinations but did not get the display to come on. Presently the computer is on and the fan comes on every few minutes. This should have been a simple process. Nothing else was accessed in the computer. I am not a novice and have installed ram on multiple computer. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks..............mfb

The power button cover also covers the wires and connections for the display screen, Remove that cover and check for any connections that may be unplugged or loose.

When the laptop turned on, it's keep beeping all

Sounds like you have a stuck key, When the computer is off brush your arm across the keyboard a few times or try to find the stuck key and use a tooth pick to pop it up. Have you spilled anything on the keyboard?

How do i change add ram in a toshiba laptop satellite a25-s279 . I don't see on the bottom where to the ram would be?

It's easy to make the old ram-switch-a-roo if there is no trap-door access on the bottom. expose the top of the keyboard by gently removing the trim cover that's in the way (you may see notches on either end to aide in prying up). Remove the 3 screws - there's a bracket on the center one - take note how it goes. Warning - the keyboard is tethered by a ribbon strip/cable - you'll see it underneath the keyboard - leave it attached - it may be a big hassle to put back the right way! Gently lay the keyboard upside down (you may have to remove the protective cover (one screw) over the ribbon). you'll see the memory on the left. lift the plastic shield back and carefully see how to unseat the stick (there is a clamp/arm on each end) then plug-in and then snap-in the new one - it's notched so it can only go in one way. If you do everything GENTLY and can remember the steps you took so you can put the thing back together, you should be OK. You just saved yourself a nice little pile of cash.

Accessing memory (RAM) to upgrade

First of all, remove the battery

Insert a thin object under the securing strip and lift it up.
Be careful, it may be very tight.

Remove the securing strip.
Carefully work with finger to disengage plastic latches securing the securing strip.

Remove three screws and a metal brace securing the keyboard.
Lift off the keyboard and place it on the palmrest

Now you can access the memory modules.
