I have a very good suggestion for you. If the set is working go into the customer menu and look for something called "quick start".

If this set has this feature it is default---means unless you change it that will be the way it is. It was a stupid idea----what happens is if it is there and engaged when you shut the set off the lamp will dim down about 60% but it and the fan will be one 7/24 which tends to shorten the lamp life.

Average lamp life should be at least 2,000 hours.

If you have the set off and turn it on and instantly get a picture, it is engaged----the "idea" was the customer would not have to wait for the set to slowly bring the lamp up to full brightness (about 15-20 seconds from start to finish).

If you turn the set on and get a normal bright picture in under 7 seconds your set has this feature.

The way this works if it is not engaged is when you shut the set off the lamp will turn off completely and the lamp fan will run for a few minutes until the temperature of the lamp drops below a specific level.

Not to mention vastly shortening the life of the lamp, it also is eating power 7/24.

Please let me know what you find and if you have any questions let me know by posting a "comment" here.

The power will not turn on and the power LED is flashing red.

PT-50LD54 is an LCD rear projection TV with a consumable bulb that wears out normally after 2-5 years of use.

Most likely you need a bulb. That is first step in any troubleshooting for that tv. Check out Panasonic Gallery to identify lamp and replacement bulb.

Changing bulb involves removing the lamp assembly and replacing the bulb in the lamp assembly. Like doing a puzzle. Requires philips screwdriver, pliers and patience. Don't have jam on your fingers when you do it.

Lamp is blown off

The PT52LCX66 Comes with a one year factory warranty. In most cases the bulb is a normal wear and tear item and would not be covered. (Kind of like the batteries in the remote). I can tell you if you are past a year you will have to buy a bulb and there are some good prices on-line. Approx $100-$300 for the bulb which usally lasts on average about 3-5 years. If you are still with in the one year factory warranty, you can call panasonic and give a good arguement. (Not if in a commercial setting)
