Question about Pioneer DEH-2100 CD Player

1 Answer

Hi I'm having a few issues with my deh 2100 head unit in my VY commodore. I installed it myself with the right wiring harness but the head unit doesn't remember settings or band settings. Also when the head unit turns on my aerial doesn't go up. Thanks for your help it's becoming a really annoying problem!

Thanks for the help. The unit just connects using the wiring harness though so shouldnt that have all the connections secured properly?

When a head unit doesn't remember settings like yours, then the Yellow constant battery wire isn't hooked up correctly. This wire provides power to your unit constantly from the battery so that it can remember the settings and such. Your aerial not going up is the Blue power antenna wire. This wire will provide power so that when you turn your unit on, it powers the antenna to go up. Hope this helps!

Hey thanks for the help. How can I fix the wires? All my wires go through a wiring adapter which I thought would make sure all the wiring was right. Do you have anymore tips?

Hey bud. On the black end of the wiring adaptor (the one that plugs into the car) carefully take out the yellow (constant memory) as well as the Red (acc) and swap them around. I found this out from another person with the same problem (as I was having the problem too) and for some reason Aerpro or whoever makes them did it wrong. Mine works great now and saves all my stations and where my cd is up too

How to remove a deh 21001b from a vt commodore

He may have to get underneath the dashboard and see if their is a security strap or wire harness holding the radio into the mounting sleeve. It's common for installers to strap down the stereo to prevent thefts and other installer from easily taking the radio out. Have him keep trying.

Apparently, you have no power at the 12 volt battery/memory wire at the radio harness of the vehicle. This wire is white with blue in color.
Also, based upon your description, you have connected the battery/memory wire and the accessory wire of the radio to the 12 volt accessory (switched) wire of the vehicle. This wire is white with red in color.
Check the radio/ stereo fuse of the car. You may have blown the fuse during your installation.
You have no memory at the radio because when you turn off the key, you lose all power to the radio.
Also, I mentioned the wire colors just in case you used an aftermarket radio wiring harness. Make sure that the yellow from the Pioneer unit is going to the battery power source and, the red of the Pioneer is going to the switched power source.

Im trying to fit an aftermarket stereo in my vx ss commodore but cant find a wiring diagram to hook up the controls on the steering wheel

hi i have done some research and all that i could find on your car (i line in the us so i never heard of that car before today) and this link will take u to the car audio forum discussion on the same question that u have asked and one of the people talking in the forum writes that u can simply buy an adapter to get the wheel controlls to work and another adapter for the head unit itself and here it is

http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/car-audio/55456-pioneer-headunit-into-vy-commodore.html

they also talk about a fascia and give the company that makes it name and part numbers
hope that helps ohh and you can find some commodore wiring diagrams if u search with google and just look for images

like i said i hope this helps
sincerely

How to install pioneer DEH-2850MP stereo player

Shouldn't need to take out *too* much. I've changed the stereo in my last two Commodores.

Usually, you'd unclip the shifter-surround, which then exposes more screws for the DIN units. Undo those, and take out the ash-tray if it's nearby... eventually you'll get to the DIN mounting-bracket and be able to unscrew and unplug the existing headunit. Wiring and crimping the new unit into the existing wiring loom is fiddly, but you can buy adapters from Strathfield Car Radio to convert most popular brands to Commodore's/Falcons/etc.

A full guide with pictures is a bit much for this response, but that's the general jist!

Pioneer deh 1600 has no power

Well.. if there is smoke coming from the head unit, the head unit could be bad. It odviously may have a wire crossed or a fuse blown, or even the wire harness could be bad. First, check the fuse for the radio on drivers side door, then check the other fuse box under the hood. Make sure all radio fuses are intact and not blown. Second, check behind the head unit to make sure no wires are touching each other and shorting out. Third, if nothing else helps, buy a new head unit & wiring harness :]

hope this helps!!!
