My XBOX was working fine until a few days ago the colors started to distort. Next time I turned it on, the screen was blank. Sound is still working, no error lights.

Congratulations, the GPU or video decoder on your xbox has fried. It is the main video processing component that is known for frying due to all the heat dissipation it lets off. It is probably just the video decoder since you don't have the red error lights. Either take the nazi soup walk to xbox tech support and see if your box is in warranty and can be fixed or trade the broken unit in at Gamestop towards the purchase of a different system, since getting another xbox will just cause this issue to happen again in a year!

You may need to change your HD settings on the back of the console ( HD setting is actually on cord ) I had that issue when I first went online w/360 . If that does not help u know X box costumer support will repair any damaged system prob. no cost and does'nt take as long as they say.

No picture on TV when Xbox 360 is turned on

For the most part, an XBOX will display a picture on the TV regardless of what the settings are. If there is no picture, it is most likely the cable or the XBOX output terminals themselves.
Since you have said that your friend's AV cable didn't work either, even though it did on his, we must assume that the problem is with the XBOX.
If the warranty is still on the console, call Microsoft and send it in. If it isn't either call Microsoft and see that they can do, or find an online repair shop that can help you.

If you need furthur assistance, feel free to ask. If this response helped you, please rate it!
Thanks!

Won't show the picture or sound

Here's one possiblility.

There should be a switch on the x box cable that goes from High definition output to analog.

Try changing the swith setting.

No picture or sound on the tv

where you put the cables for the sound and picture if you look on the end where you plug it into the xbox 360 you will see a little switch it has HD and TV on it depending on what your tv supports (HD ready TV) (normal TV) switch that switch to what TV you have (e.g. HD TV, switch the switch to HD) if that doesnt work then try checking that you have all the cables in the right ports if you have pluged the HD cables into a normal TV then this is not going to work, check cables and check the switch!

Xbox 360 sound problem

HDMI carrys no sound you still need to have the audio cables from the component plugged into the tv. If this doesnt do the trick you should call MS or check your TV's settings maybe there is a special function when using that resolution. Hope this helps.

I have it and it works great! For all TVs, the TV have to be on fixed settings on standard, dot-by-dot mapping, noise reduction off. The camera's exposure the same for both side-by-side shots. Just set it on standard and it should work...
