Question about Metrologic Instruments HoneywellMetrologic MS9590 Voyager GS Scanner USB withEAS Stand Barcode Scanner

Open Question

I have a Metrologic MS9590 set up and am having problems with it transposing the first few digits of barcodes. The problem only occurs when scanning into a highlighted cell (eg. Cell is highlighted blue but there is no cursor). I tried setting up a prefix "enter" character which worked but unfortunately caused other problems. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

SOURCE: Metrologic Keyboard Wedge Barcode Scanner (MS5145)

I found a solution. The scanners needed to be reset to default. (via the manual) Thx anyway. Didn't know they could be configured for use without a kboard... That definately bit me once.

SOURCE: My RS-232 scanner beeps at the bar code but nothing appears on-screen.

The "Beep" just means that the scanner has been presented with a valid barcode. (nothing more) The scanner has probably not been set up correctly as this is a common issue. the settings need to be set correctly for your environment. you should have a code book with some bar codes in (part of the manual) which can set all the options within the scanner, There is an option to recall defaults here is the electronic manual ftp://ftp.metrologic.com/pub/download/productmanuals/00-02544.pdf

SOURCE: Default Barcode as the one used in the manual

I finally figured out the problem, thanks to Here4you's help.  The Metrologic VoyagerBT does indeed use the 128 barcoding protocols.  The reason my barcodes were not scanning in properly is that the correct barcodes had a hidden "Function-3" prefix, which all of the scanner's programming codes have.  I am still having trouble figuring out how to input a "Function-3" prefix into the various barcode generation programs I am testing.  I use Macs, not PCs so many of you may be inclined to recommend certain programs that are are exclusively made for PCs.  I will be creating the data for the barcodes in either Excel or Filemaker, so I am attempting to input the ASCII equivalent for the Function-3, with mixed results.  Thanks for the help!

How do i get it to connection

You have to set-up the barcode scanner in the manual. The most common mistake is not scanning the "host" option. The scanner default is "no host" It will not work until you enable the appropriate "host" option by scanning that particular barcode. Read the manual. Contact the Honeywell Help Desk (they bought Metrologic)

Ms9535 bt not reading barcodes.

I'm using the same Barcode reader, the Metrologic MS9535 VoyagerBT.

The brief humming noize is called a "Rasbery tone" in the manual. It means that the barcode reader is not configured to read that kind of barcode, a barcode Code if you will.

There are many types of barcodes so you have to go to the Metrologic Website and get the Barcode Configuration tool to configure your barcode reader to read the type of codes you will be using.

Alternatively there is a book with configuration barcodes you can scan to configure your barcode reader manually.
