Coil won't heat up - Whirlpool RBD305PDS Electric Double Oven

Contact a professional to have the unit diagnosed for repairs. Sounds like the heating elements are either faulty or the main control board won't allow the unit to heat up correctly.

Typically, the coils heat and the fan moves air/heat throughout the oven like Emergency Heat in a home furnace: 1st. check thermometer connections, 2. Look for reset button and reset...also, your electrical outlet, 3. make sure your coils are heating and if so look for faulty relays on your fan connections.

It is a problem with neither of the two it is the sensor reads the oven temp and shuts off the heating element when it is reached, it is called the thermal probe or thermostat.

The coil on the oven may need to be replaced. Unplug the oven and remove the coil. You should be able to find a replacement at a hardware store, online, or at a major appliance outlet such as Lowes, Home Depot, etc.

You will need a multimeter to check for th resistance of the coils.remove power plug.
Check from the power plug to the main switch .When the switch is turned on the line must come till the coil.
Now disconnect and test the coils , if open resistance the coils are burnt and must be replaced with the same type /wattage.
However if coil is good then it can be the thermostat cut off(UNIT), the switch or the wires.

The oven control is bad, since I do not have your model number I cannot tell what type of control it uses. If you could send me the model number from the tag I could take a look and maybe give you some insight as to what it will take to repair.

Usually the coil is bad

The problem looks like a faulty electronic control. When you select baking, the broiling element should not come up.

Before replacing control assembly, test the temp probe located inside the cavity, check the wiring harness to temp probe and elements, and ensure that the fan is working if the oven is fan assisted.

Make sure there's power getting to your range, oven or cooktop. Check for a tripped circuit breaker or a blown fuse. Check the wall socket for power with a voltmeter or by plugging something else in.


A faulty igniter is probably the most common cause, however there are others:

-- defective thermostat
-- defective selector switch
-- defective gas safety valve/coil assembly

yes it is most likely the element (coil) itself burnt out. inexpensive and easy to replace.
