I have the same problem ive replaced the safety valve and the heating element on the bottom. go to and type your model number in and look at the wiring diagram i think it has to do with the red wire going to the terminal block or it can be the contactor on the terminal block it self good luck let me know if you get yours fixed

I have GE model#JKP45WOP2WG double oven wall unit. Lower oven isn't heating up properly. Bottom of lower oven doesn't seem as hot as the top of the oven... replaced oven sensor, not

Most double wall ovens are technically two separate oven boxes. The lower oven box has its bake, boil elements, high limit thermostat and ofcourse its own oven sensor. If the lower oven box boil is working good and less heat on bake feature may suggest that the bake element is burned out and only getting preheated with boil element. Just a suggestion here

How do I check to see if the oven is working properly?

You need to
B/ Get access to the terminals ( usually at the back of the cooker)
C/ Disconnect the wiring from the terminals, there will be 2, 1 on each terminal.
D/ Obtain a multimeter and set it to ohms
E/ Place 1 lead on each of the terminals and check the reading in ohms on the scale.
F/ No reading on the meter indicates the heating element has gone open circuit or blown.
G/ Obtain make/serial number/type. Order a replacement from a supplier of heating elements.

The ignitor must glow brightly, if it is dim it is probably too weak to open the bi-metal safety valve. Take a LOOK

The oven is constantly burning things I cook. If I reduce the heat - food doesn't cook properly and when you use the correct heat, the bottom on the food is burnt black. Can anyone help. Also no way of...

There are other possibilities, but,..... this sounds like what will happen if you use too large of a pan or cookie sheet(s) in your oven. If there is not much space on the sides and front and back of the pans, the heat gets trapped under the pan (causing burning) because not enough hot air is getting to the top of the oven where the oven thermostat is located.

Oven won't start

If you look at the oven igniter in the bottom portion of the range, (where the gas controls are) look to see if the igniter is glowing hot. If not, replace your igniter. This is the part that starts the burner and keep it lit. When you get a new igniter DO NOT TOUCH THE ELEMENT PORTION of the igniter. Or it will pre-maturly fail. Good luck.Hope this helped ya!

Most modern gas ovens and many broilers use a "glow-bar" style of igniter that glows red-hot to ignite the gas. If the igniter doesn't reach the proper temperature, the gas valve won't open. You may need to replace the igniter.
