There are grill replacement parts out there. You will probably need an ignitor and the burners or maybe just the ignitor if your burners in the bottom of your grill are not too rusty. The ignitor switch probably wore out.

Can not get two burners to light

Before you do anything else, take a pipe cleaner or a special brush on a flexible shaft that they sell in home stores and clean out the venturi tubes on all burners. Tiny spiders like to build nests in these tubes which can keep burners from working even when you try to start them with a handheld lighter. That can be dangerous, because it will build up the level of gas in the grill.

If that doesn't solve your problem, and your grill has electronic ignition with only one igniter for all the burners, then the transfer channel at the back of the burners is blocked with soot or corroded, and the flame from the burner with the igniter can't travel to the others. Clean or repair the channel.

Some grills have an igniter on each burner. In that case the burners that don't light may have broken or blocked igniters that you'll have to replace or clean. In the meantime, use one of those butane fireplace lighters to light the balky burners.

I have a Kenmore Quantum grill and all of a sudden the burners do not want to ignite. The propane tank is new. I tried with a lighter to ignite the burners and nothing. The ignitor button doesn't...

The problem you're having is related to the OPD Valve in the Propane Tank. But, it is solvable by following the instructions below.

1. Turn the gas tank valve OFF and disconnect the hose from the tank.

2. Wait 5 minutes and reconnect the hose to the tank.

3. Open the tank valve VERY, VERY SLOWLY (Slow motion, slow).

4. Once the tank valve is fully open, light the burner farthest from the tank first and set the burner
control knob on HIGH. Does the flame height look correct for being set on HIGH? If so, light
the remaining burners the same way. Do all the burner flames look correct? If so, you solved
the problem. Remember, to always open the tank valve Very, Very Slowly.

If that didn't solve the problem, you will need to replace the grill's Hose/Regulator Assembly. It runs about $30.00 at any home center or hardware store that sells grills & accessories. If you replace it, turn the tank valve ON Very, Very Slowly.

Hope this helped you to troubleshoot and solve the problem. Happy Grilling and thanks for choosing FixYa.

Grill is 6 yrs old, natural gas hard line to house burners have only very low flame (really low) do I need to replace burners or valves? if so what does it take?

Before you start replacing parts, let's try trouble shooting the problem, by asking a couple of questions.

Have you checked the gas line shutoff valve, on the gas line from the house to the grill, to make sure it's fully open?

When was the last time you thoroughly cleaned the grill (i.e. Removed and cleaned the burners, the venturi valves & the burner orifices) ?

If you answered NO, to both or either one of the above questions, that's where you need to start.
If you no longer have the Owners Manual for your grill, please advise me, who the manufacturer is and the correct model number . I may be able to provide you with one. Even if you end up needing parts, you will need the Owners Manual to get the correct part numbers.

Hope this helped in solving your grill problem. Please let me know.

The LP Grill tank's OPD Valve has locked up your regulator. To solve the problem turn the tank valve OFF. Disconnect the hose from the tank and wait 5 minutes. Reconnect the hose and turn the tank valve on VERY, VERY, SLOWLY (Slow motion, slow). Once the tank valve is fully open, light the burner and turn it to high. Does the flame height now look correct? If so, you solved the problem.

If it didn't and the grill and tank were stored outside during the snowy winter. The grill's regulator may be frozen. In which case, soak a bath towel in hot water, ring it out and quickly wrap it around the regulator. If that was the problem, gas should start flowing again, in several minutes.

Hope this helped to solve your problem.

Grill seems to flair up, doe not always light with 1st press of the ignitor(or 2nd, 3rd...) and then it does start and a gas filled burst of heat erupts

most grills do not lite on the first press of the igniter so this is a common situation, The best way to prevent this is make sure everything around the igniter is clean especially the burner. I've seen brand new grills do the for their entire service life so don't be discouraged if you can't correct the problem. Get a extended lighter and lite the grill manually, lite the lighter hold it next to the burner then turn the burner control on, Always lite a grill with the hood or cover open!!

Won't start

Try clearing the venturri tube. Sometimes spiders will build webs inside the venturri tube, restricting the flow of propane to the burner. If the venturri tube is clear, try cleaning the individual ports on the burner itself. Grease, food debris, and rust can clog the burner ports restricting the flame from coming up. If neither of these work, you most likely have a faulty regulator and need to purchase a replacement regulator.

Hope this helps!

Check to see if the probe where it sparks to the burner inside the grill is clean and not shorted by grease or other gunk and the burner itself in this area is not too heavily rusted or corroded. If not, short of disassembling the whole grill and replacing the spark module, spend $2-3 and buy one of those pistol type grill lighters. The ignition systems on BBQ grills rarely seem to last long.

The knobs no longer control the fuel flow. What

May be air locked. Try turning off all the knobs. Turn on the gas, wait 10 minutes, turn on the lighter knob again and try to light it.

I HAVE A CHARMGLOW PROPANE GRILL

Yes you can. It's best to use a long lighter, You light the burner from under the grill. Should be air slots on bottom, keep lid up and do not turn burner on until ready with lighter. Sounds like you need a new piezoelectric ignition or a wire problem.
Thanks for using fixya
