Question about AMD eMachines Desktop System w/ 17'' CRT Display, 2.0 GHz Athlon 64 3000+ (W3400)
Emachines T5254 desktop, windows vista home premium, AMD 2.1 GHZ,
DVD/CD RW drive worked for about a day, didn't even have all my files transfered, then computer quit recognizing it. Device manager says Code 37, windows cannot initialize the device driver for this hardware. Tried updating driver, it's already updated. Keep getting error message popping up on screen that error occured while trying to communicate with scanning device, make sure it's installed correctly. I don't even know which scanning device it's talking about. I have a scanner hooked to it, a printer and in the network, an all in one. I thought maybe the problem is with windows vista so I checked their site for help. They claim the Windows ID is invalid (factory installed with computer) and wont even help me. Other sites tell me to change the system registry, but then others said when they did that it recognized the DVD drive and let them read from it, but not write to it. I don't want to change this if it's not going to work as intended. What should I do?
