Try changing the dial to spin cycle. You might want to take the clothes out first.

Hello I have a Maytag Washer Model A512 The machine goes through a regular cycle OK - However, it DOES drains the water out during the rinse cycle, but does NOT drain the water out during the spin...

The timer will always advance to the next program if the machine does not fully drain. There is ALWAYS a spin when draining the water out, there is only one pump and one motor. The waterlogged laundry maybe telling the timer that there is still water in the tub. Put the machine on "Spin" and cheat the lid switch into thinking that the lid is closed. Use a clothes peg or wide ended screwdriver and see if there really is a spin....

Does not spin clothes dry

Run the washer empty on the lowest water level. Cold will save energy. Watch it fill, close the lid, stay there. Don't advance the timer no matter how tempting as this could skip a program interval. When you hear the water draining listen for a sound change and open the top and see if it drained completely -- pumped out empty. Close the lid so the cycle can continue. During the spin cycle open the lid. See if the drum was really turning fast -- it will be slowing down as soon as you open the lid because that stops the motor. If everything seems normal, then the problem may be transmission or belt slipping under load. Do you have the problem only on large loads? If the spin speed is slow during the test then the transmission is not shifting in to high, controlled by a solenoid. Check the solenoid for power during the spin cycle. Operate the washer on blocks or outside on saw horses to see full function of underneath parts and have access to electrical wires for testing. Use precautions testing and plug into a GFCI. Take your car battery jumper cables and clamp to a water pipe ground and to the underneath frame where the motor mounts. This should keep you from getting electricuted standing in water and holding a test meter.

Water doesn't drain

1) Be sure the drain hose isn’t kinked.

2) Check the tab on the lid that strikes the lid switch; if it is broken, the washer may stop during the drain cycle. Press and release the lid switch. If it doesn’t click each time you do this, it’s probably broken. If you’re experienced at home repair, you can remove the switch, test it, and replace it if needed; otherwise, call an appliance repairperson.

3) The water pump may be broken or clogged with a small article of clothing, or the controls may be broken;

Will not hold water during initial cycle

The drain hose needs to be lifted above the high fill level in washer.The easiest way to fix this is take the drain hose (if your drain hose starts from the bottom of machine and goes up)tie or strap it to the back of the washer so it cant sag or drop down and start syphoning the water.Remember the washer will drain out the water if the drain hose is lower than the amount of water in the tub.Thats why your making sure by tieing the drain hose to the highest point before it makes it way to the drain .

Washer continues to work even if water is not filled to top and even if i try to stop continues to spin

A defective pressure switch can interfere with the cycles that depend upon the switch to indicate when water has filled or emptied from the tub. It can also result in underfilling or overfilling of the tub. The switch routes current from the timer control to the temperature switch and the water inlet valve when the tub needs to be filled. Once full, the pressure switch cuts the current and reroutes it to the motor on the timer control to continue the cycle.
