Question about VeriFone VX510

1 Answer

We have the Verifone VX510. the POS terminal indicates "MUST DO SETTLE". We tried to manually settle it by doing the card upload but the POS terminal keeps on saying "DIALING" then "SORRY FOR DELAY" then "PLEASE WAIT" until it stops again and shows the "MUST DO SETTLE" again. Hope to hear from you very soon. Thank you.

How do I change the auto settlement time on verifone vx 510

Press 6 then set up, enter password- alpha alpha 66831 enter (alpha key above 2 key) then it will display
Select Terminal using purple more key or the next key if one displays until you see auto settle time. Press Select- then on bottom of screen you can enter the time using HHMM- military time. if you want to close at 1100pm you would enter 2300 press exit and yes to save, red x until back at main screen. if your screen goes to a default screen that says comm serv and something else, choose the option that is not comm serv and this should take you to a home screen you are used to seeing.

Vx 570 auto settlementIf I manually settle my VeriFone credit card terminal in the morning, why doesn't it auto settle at the scheduled time that night?

the terminal is set internally to settle each day on it's own. you can have this turned off if you don't like the feature.
if you select the 0 key or press enter if 0 does not take you to configuration menu. enter your default password or 1 alpha alpha ( key is above the 2)66831 enter, then select the purple more key until you see merchant id.
select merchant id. then press next until you see auto settle time, press select when you see auto settle time. remove the time using backspace key, select exit and save changes red x to main screen. the auto settle should be removed now. but if you do a download you will lose this information so it is best to contact your processor to have your file updated.

That is going to depend on your processor and programming. Some processors only allow "The day" to be settled once per day. Others enable a "Cut time" which ends the day at a specific time of day and will not allow a manual settlement before that time.

Vx 570 auto settlementIf I manually settle my VeriFone credit card terminal in the morning, why doesn't it auto settle at the scheduled time that night?

Most likely because you settled the day in the morning and your processor only allows one batch settlement per day.
The type of terminal in this case doesn't matter. Hypercom, Ingenico, PAX, Verifone etc... It is all about what the processor allows in the programming.

Feeds paper out on its own without doing a transaction, usually on a weekend

it is trying to settle the batch, even if you are not open during that time. the terminal is programmed to run a settlement report each day- so it tries to settle funds that may be in the terminal. if no funds are in the terminal it will look like it feeds the paper with no reason.

Our Verifone VX510 printed our detail report at closing last night, but the settlement failed multiple times. Now we are unable to use the machine to process a debit or credit card transaction because it...

This problem could have multiple causes. It sounds like you are receiving a settlement error, which are specific to each merchant services provider. You will have to call the merchant services provider so that they can look up the error message on their end and tell you what is causing the error. For example, the error message that you would receive if you use First Data would be different than the message you would get if you used Bank of America. Your terminal will not let you run any more cards until you resolve the settlement error. This is to prevent you from continuing to run cards in a corrupted batch, or a duplicate batch.
