Best Solution :
As you written that you are unable to play your video when attached to different pc ,that means your video files need codecs to be installed on you pc..
Firstly check whether you are able to hear sound when you play any mp3 files on windows media player , so that you can come to know whether its a sound issue or not.

Now install codecs on your computer and you will be able to hear sound when playing handycam video ..i will also recommend you to download a player which is capable of playing mostly all video formats:
You can download codecs from below link.after downloading install it..
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Codec_Pack_All_In_1.htm

for downloading plaer use below link :
http://vlc-media-player.en.softonic.com/download
click on free download button for downloading ..after downloading install it on your computer

Try the following

  • urn on the computer.
  • On the computer, install the USB driver for the digital camcorder.
  • IMPORTANT: Only the USB driver included on the supplied CDROM will properly enable the digital camcorder for USB streaming.
  • Turn on the digital camcorder to the VTR, VCR or PLAYBACK mode.
  • Turn on the USB streaming feature of the digital camcorder.
  • Connect the USB cable to the digital camcorder.
  • Connect the other end of the USB cable to the computer.
  • Cue the video to the beginning of the video footage to be transferred.
  • Start the video capture software on the computer.
  • Begin playing the recorded video in the camcorder.
  • Begin importing the recorded video with the capture software.

  • If this doesn't work, please let me know and maybe it is a compatibility issue with the camera and computer and I will help you figure it out.

try uninstalling and reinstalling it ...
try connecting in another pc and try ...

    or
check in the handycam the playback gives sound or not ...

    Cant instal drivers

usb streaming function is not readily supported by windows vista. this would depend on the software that came supplied with the camcorder. unfortunately, the software being incompatible and the funtion (usb streaming) not supported by driver included in the supplied cd-rom, usb connection will not work (although you can use it for still picture transfer). for tape transfer you would need to go another route which is ieee1394 (ilink or firewire) connection. it should be a plug-and-play connection. your computer should support and have a working ieee1394 (ilink or firewire) card installed. a compatible ilink cable for both devices and a video capturing software like windows moviemaker and having all the needed hardware and software then your good to go. hope this helps.thanks:)

I cant seem to be able to transfer my recordings to a DVD recorder on my computer The video recorder is a Sony DCR-TRV22E.My computer is PRYON. PRY-i922vp

If the Computer is having Windows Vista installed on it then it's required to use a compatible i.LINK or Firewire cable to connect the Camcorder to the Computer.
Once the connection is established, you can use Windows Movie Maker to transfer videos from the Camcorder to the computer. Make sure that the Camcorder is set to the "VCR/VTR" or "Play/Edit" mode and the tape is playing in the camcorder before importing the videos to the Computer.

If you're having Windows XP on the Computer and using USB cable to connect the Camcorder to the Computer then it's required to install the USB streaming driver and the USB driver for connection on the Computer before you can establish a successful connection between the Computer and the camcorder for transferring videos.

You can install the USB streaming driver using the supplied Software installation disc.

You can check with Sony, but if I remember right you have to use the audio output separately from the camera through to the AUX or Line in on the sound board. You will have to go in to the setup of the sound card software to make sure that the video is coming from the USB port and at the same time it can come from the AUX or Line in on the sound card.

There is no sound carrier on an S video connection. It's Video only. use the AV left and right cables for the sound. It is normal not to monitor audio when capturing.

hi follow this steps: Make sure that you have installed the USB driver for the handycam. You can download the drivers from this link: Sony Asia Pacific Support Website--Download Page for HC40E USB Driver for Windows. Connect the handycam to the AC adaptor (the same as putting it on charge). Set the handycam to USB stream mode. (Press P-menu, press MENU, Press EDIT/PLAY, Press USB MODE, Press USB Stream.) Set the tape at the point from where you want to start capturing in PC. Connect the handycam and the PC with the USB cable. (USB-Mode appears on the handycam LCD / viewfinder.) Start Windows Movie Maker. Click on the 'Capture..' link to start the wizard. Select the Sony Digital Imaging Device. Click Next. Specify the file name and path for the capture video. Click Next. Select the desired capture format and Click Next. (Leave it to recommended setting if you are not sure.) The dialog box now displays the Start Capture and End Capture buttons on the left and preview window on the right. Play the tape on the handycam. The video from handycam should appear in the preview window of WMM. Click the Start Capture button to start capturing the video. Click End Capture to pause or stop recording. Click the Finish button. The .wmv file will be saved in the path specified in step 7.
