Hi, i have brand new Dell - Inspirion 1545, i have install Win7 enterprise, get drivers and comp. is working ok. but when i shut down and not use laptop for hour or two, next time when i press power button, comp. start loading first "DELL" screen... and here is problem! this first company screen load for long time over 10-15min.... and i get borred and kill this proces by long press on power button (10-15sec),comp normaly get off, next time when i get power ON, this dell screen take 20-45sec. and win7 get to load with no problems... what can i do to solve this problem...? tnx in advance!

    brand new... two days ago...i dont want to call them ...it will make days before they fix it...
    im preety good in comp. tech. so i will try to find some solution...

    i try to reinstall win7... still the same..
    didnt do recovery disc.

    when i first time power on dell this problem was here...

    i thinking maby bios update? will help?
    anything on your mind?

Shutting your laptop off like that can do damage to the hard drive over time, so if you need to take it back to the store you bought it from later on, you may want to leave that part out. (They'll always find ways to make it your fault your computer isn't working so don't make it easy for them)
This could be an easy fix, though. Disconnect the power source and remove the battery, and then press the power button for 30 seconds. This is a default reset on many newer laptops. After that, put the battery back in, plug the power to the wall and you should be set.
One thing I should also mention:
Several Dell models (and a few Toshiba, for that matter), have been giving these same symptoms that require a lot more than pressing a power button, so be sure you know where your warranty information is. If anyone aside from a certified professional opens it up, the warranty is voided, which the salesmen and techhies where you bought it will be more than happy to tell you

    rcw1962 has a good point, there's going to be a toll free number on that computer to call.

    BUT....

    There's absolutely NO reason that should be happening after only two days, and NO reason it should need a BIOS update new out of the box.. I would take it back and get a replacement, but I'm impatient that way, I just have little love for most salespersons

Have you made your recovery disk yet.

You can enable this with the fn function on the keybord?
Otherwise it might be an winxp machine with win7 driver and that is the isseu. If its an winxp computer try to install the driver under xp compatabilitymode!

Dell inspirion 1545 respond slow and shuts down even when on the desktop


The most probable, as far as I know, the hard drive is dying. Please test the laptop with a healthy (or brand new) hard drive.

get the software from support.dell.com->drivers and downloads->insert your service tag which is found bottom of your laptop->select the Os->select driver.

Dell XPS M1530 Vista originally installed - Fresh installed Win7 and now touch pad does not work - the right button works, and sometimes the left, but the touch pad does not. I've install the latest...


If you've reinstalled the drivers for the touchpad, the issue is likely the hardware- if in warranty, contact Dell tech support- if not, you may need to purchase the palmrest assembly and consult support.dell.com for the install instructions
