If you go here, there is a way to access the technical subsystem in your xbox 360 using the connect and eject buttons and find out the specific hardware error you are having. If you can designate what the exact piece is, you can check it for damage of re-insert the loose piece(maybe touch it up with thermal glue to keep it running cool. If you get error 0102, don't bother trying to fix it because it could be an error anywhere on the xbox 360. Either trade your broken xbox 360 at Gamestop in toward a Wii or PS3 purchase or you can wait in the "mail-box line" with Microsoft to repair your box if it's still within the 3 year warranty for free. Call them and they will tell you if it is or not. Your just gonna get the same P.O.S. back anyways for it to break on you again in a year, something to keep in mind since the first time around was so fun.

It's overheating but has not overheated. Get a fan from gamestop for $20 and use it always or you'll be sorry. Otherwise, plan on getting a PS3 or Wii.

Hey i have 2 red lights on my xbox 360 on the left side can u help

The unit is over heating , if the fan quickly goes
to full speed you have an air gap in the C.P.U. heat sink
The fix is to re-seat the heat sink to the chip . This is done
by applying even pressure on the heat-sink and turning it on
to see if you have good contact. and repeat till the fan speed
drops .

If you have any questions just comment and ill respond.

2 red lights

Your xbox is overheating.
1. Let your Xbox 360 console cool. You may have to wait several hours for your console to cool enough. Don't turn on your Xbox 360 console when the console is hot. 2. Verify that your Xbox 360 console has enough ventilation and that the fans are operating. 3. If the two lights continue to flash after trying the above steps, you'll need to contact Xbox Customer Support.

The Xbox console is overheated.
  1. Let your Xbox 360 console cool. You may have to wait several hours for your console to cool enough. Don't turn on your Xbox 360 console when the console is hot.
  2. Verify that your Xbox 360 console has enough ventilation and that the fans are operating.
  3. If the two lights continue to flash red after you try steps 1 and 2, contact Xbox Customer Support.
To try to prevent this problem, follow these precautions:
  • Don't block any ventilation openings on your Xbox 360 console.
  • Don't put your Xbox 360 console on a bed, on a sofa, on a carpet floor, or on any other soft surface that may block ventilation openings.
  • Don't put your Xbox 360 console in a confined space, such as a bookcase, a rack, or a stereo cabinet, unless the space is well ventilated.
  • Don't put your Xbox 360 console near any heat source, such as a radiator, a heat register, a stove, or an amplifier.

Best of Luck.

2 red lights fans don;t work

Hey Marsh2Man,

It's not your fans that's causing the problem. It's the XBOX itself. The Xboxes generally overheat and this has been a big problem for Microsoft. Alot of companies are actually reflowing these system, reheating the solder under the chips allowing them to connect back down to the points on the board.

You will need your system reflowed. Contact a repair shop.

2 red lights

This problem may occur when the Xbox console is too hot or is overheating. The flashing lights mean that the internal temperature of your Xbox 360 console has exceeded acceptable temperature limits. Let your Xbox 360 console cool. You may have to wait several hours for your Xbox 360 console to cool enough. Don't turn on your Xbox 360 console when the console is hot.Verify that your Xbox 360 console has enough ventilation and that the fans are operating. If the two lights continue to flash red after you try steps 1 and 2, contact Xbox Customer Support.

Microsoft can be contacted by finding the number listed on the back of your video game booklets.

Good Luck to you and Happy Gaming.
