Question about Heating & Cooling

Open Question

I am installing a weil-mclain ultra 105 (series 3) natural gas boiler with a ultra plus 40 indirect fired water heater. The system has four zone valves and three circulator pumps. I can find no wiring instructions for the zone valves, thermostats, or a relay for this system. How am I supposed to wire the system?

SOURCE: weil mclain heII-4 short cycles burner comes on

Make sure the exhaust fan is pushing out hot air and not obtstructed. Check the pilot assembly, clean ane make sure the sensor is well into the flame. Watch the flame to see if all burners are igniting. If not, clean the burners and the flame tray that spreads the flame to all of them. Look for a sensor at the farthest burner and make sure the probe is free of carbon and the wiring is tight.

We have a W. McLain CG, small house, just 1 zone so no zone valve. How do I get the pressure back up, it is too low and heat is not reaching the back room

Boilers are set at 180 degrees which gives between 550 and 600 degrees per foot of baseboard depending on the brand. You can change the aquastat setting to 200 degrees which will give more heat, but that may not be your problem. Your system may not be balanced properly. If there is too much baseboard(BB) near the thermostat, it may shut down the boiler before it is warm in the back room. You can close the dampers near where the stat is, and fully open the dampers in the cold room. There is also the possibility that you need to purge some air from the system.
The best solution would be to split off with another zone if none of this works. I'm assuming you have a CG-3, but what size is your house? Is there an indirect fired water heater that uses the boiler to heat domestic water? If you have a cg-3 and your house is over 1000 sq feet, then your boiler is undersized. Good luck!

Light the pilot light on weil mclain gas boiler

Joanne If there is a standing pilot on the boiler. Put the gas valve to the pilot setting and push in on the valve while holding a long match or BBQ lighter @ the pilot assembly that is behind the small access port at the top of the gas train assembly. Dont hold the pilot knob doun without having a flane @ the gas outlet of the pilot assembly or gas will build up and could blow out of the port and hold the gas valve in for about a minute or two and let it go it should stay light when you let it go .If it does not sta lit and it IS a standing pilot there- is a thermo-coupling that may be bad If the pilot does not stay lit.
If there is an electronic ignition rather than a standing pilot then you do not need to light it will light itself if the electronic ignition is bad or if the flame sensor is dirty. If you remove the pilot assembly from the gas train and clean the flame sensor rod with a piece of .0000 steel wool it could help. If not you may want to call a licensed pipe-pitter ( OR plumber depending where you live and the local codes).
If you don't thing you could do it yourself then call a licensed pipi-fitter or plumber. (Gas only has to leak once for there to be a problem so please do call someone licensed if you don't think you could do it your self.), http://www.weil-mclain.com/en/weil-mclain/products-services/
Here is a link to the manufacturer you should be ale to fing your equipment and the install instructions, if you look around .You can download a PDF and print it
Good luck and stay warm

Operating worcester bosch 240 gas boiler

  1. If there is no water on the floor, your crack is probably OK so far. The water thing is a worry though. NEVER fire a boiler that is low on water. Adding water to a hot boiler will crack it. Tell me all you can on what components you have in the water and gas lines.

Not good at all. Check for a fill level probe/float/sensor that may be acting up causing the unit to over fill, or you may be looking at buying a new boiler.

Two problems, one is a bad thermostat on zone 2. The second is the boiler. The inducer fan energizes causing a pressure switch to engage. This pressure switch energizes the ignitor. If the ignitor does not get hot enough, it will cycle again all over. The cheapest route to take is to check all hoses going from fan housing to pressure switch looking for bad connections or leaks, the second thing to do is to replace your ignitor (time for it anyway).
