Question about Ruud Heating & Cooling
The best way that I have found to clean the evap. coil when it's clogged with dirt and other things is a small wire brush and some evap. coil cleaner that is self rinsing. You will have to open the coil box and take the small cover off of the coil itself which can be a pain sometimes. You might have to take the flue apart and clear other obstacles that can get in the way. The self rinsing cleaner has to be bought at a A/C supply store. Be careful not to bend the aluminum fins has this could add to the problem. Also be sure that you don't leave a lot of junk in the drain pan or it might also be clogged later. One more thing that a lot of people forget to do is clean the coils on the outside unit as well. This can be done with a water hose and a spray gun. Starting from the top, work your way from left to right and heading down. Also be careful not to bend the aluminum fins here too. Hope this helps!
