Your tv is a digital tv, so you do NOT need a converter box. The tv has a built in digital tuner. But if you have any other older tv's then what you need is a converter box to convert analog signals to digital. I know there is one in Best Buy (not sure if there is one in your location) but they have one called access digital tv converter. They are about $50 (CAN). You would still need your antenna or however you get your analog signals. The antenna needs to be plugged into your converter box and then the box would need to be connected to your tv.
No,all CRT tvs(tube tvs) are analog tvs.Tries those Big Box stores like Walmart,Target might still sell those Digital converter box. Not,tries websites like Amazon.com,Ebay.com to buy the Digital converter box to convert digital signal to ur analog tv.
Different TVs need different type of converter box to work properly. If your TV has audio video [A/V] input socket, go for a converter which has A/V output in it. If your tv has no A/V input, and only one ariel socket is there, buy a coverter which has RF output in it. Most of the coverters have both A/V and RF. Just buy that type of converter and it is good for you if you are not sure about the matter.
If you are picking up only analog channels, you will need a converter box. You can pick a converter box up for $49 or $59 dollars at walmart or target. Best Buy is way overcharging if they are selling them at $100.
Can you describe how the DVD and VCR were connected prior to the converter box when they were working? I need to know that in order to guide you properly.
