Question about Jura Capresso CoffeeTEAM TS 46505

1 Answer

We have had this pot for several months and tried dozens of kinds of beans. We cannot get a smooth cup of coffee, even though this is not the problem with others we know. It is always too strong no matter what we do unless we add more water. We have tried working with the grind setting on just about every setting; we just keep it mostly about the middle now No matter whether we put the aroma setting on light, medium or dark it is always too strong. We have been adding at least 2 more cups water for the amount of cups we are making just to compensate. I have felt there is something wrong with the grinder or the way it measures. All I know is that we are disappointed in the quality of coffee. I do not believe it is because of the type of grinder; I have used a conical grinder before when grinding my own and then measuring and adding to a coffee machine. It is different since it is part of this machine. I am hoping you can make some kind of recommendations. Thank you

Is it difficult to make Turkish coffee?

it doesn't really matter what bean you use to make Turkish coffee, what really matters is the pot that you make it in. An Ibrik is a traditional Turkish coffee pot which you can fill two thirds full with water. Add sugar and a heaped teaspoon of coffee. The coffee creates a seal at the narrow top. As you bring it to the boil the coffee with foam. You should let it foam three times before pouring into small cups. Let the grounds settle to the bottom of the cup before you drink it and don't stir it just before drinking.

Vev Vigano Carioca Nero Espresso Maker..what kind of grind to use

Use fine grind for espresso, darker roasted bean blend on Italian roast style are better, they are stronger and oily, perfect for expresso machines like this.

One of the best available here is this: Lavazza Qualita Rossa Ground Coffee, great brew on Moka style espresso machines.

The perfect cup!

When I brew coffee, I use a mild to medium columbian roast. I then use one tablespoon of coffee grounds for ea 2 cups of water as marked on the pot. The measure of coffee is the same whether you use the ground or the whole bean.

I always use fresh filtered water. Chlorine, flouride, and any other ingredient in the water affects the flavor of the coffee.
I stay away from the french roasts & dark roasts. they are very bitter and frequently taste like ashtray to me.
I assume that the coffee pot uses a 6 oz measure of water for their one cup of coffee.
I frequently check the drip area for coffee sludge buildup. That also affects the coffee flavor if the coffee sits at all.

Hope this helps

The coffee is never strong enough

Be sure to use a very fine grind of a true Italian Roast espresso bean, and don't be afraid to tamp or pack the coffee a bit. Also, you don't want to overheat the pot...a low flame (or setting on your electric stove) will work best.

Coffee pot turns stops brewing in the middle of the cycle

Yup thats the Ticket - EASY FIX -
you have to clean the insides too people... lol.. The best way to do it is to buy citric acid crystals available from your local pharmacy. who knew huh? a couple of tablespoons in distilled water. Brew half the pot and let it sit for 30 min the brew the rest of the pot. Notice the color of your water after your done brewing. probably green from copper.. I could go into much more detail but thats the short answer... brew another pot or two of just plane ole water and bang your good go.. You should do this every month with any coffee pot for better tasting coffee..

More Steam Less Coffee

I had same problem after 4 months. very slow brew time, 10 cups of water poured in made about 6 cups of coffee. I used a packaged coffee pot cleaner powder and this fixed the problem (for now).
