If its a laptop the sound card is built into the system board. If you are looking for someplace to put headphones you will have a small port jack on the side of the system with a picture of Headphones on it.
Are you trying to find the settings? If so go to control panel, click on the SYSTEM icon and then choose device manager to locate the card and information on it. Thanks! //Don

How to enable my sound volume

Its sounds like you lost the drivers for your sound card. Search make and model of computer (the specs will tell you what sound card you are using unless you added on sound card then do the same this except for your sound card) and download the drivers.

I recently rebuilt an Asus -SLI Premium motherboard with an Audigy 2 SZ SB0350 sound card. It is an XP based system. The sound card does not work even though the drivers seem to be up to date when...

I am not sure if you used the Creative Labs drivers or not but unfortunately those drivers are not compatible with the Audigy 2 SZ SB0350 sound card. When it comes to the drivers for this sound card, you need to use the gateway drivers which are available here.

Dell Studio 17 windows 7/ Sound disappeared completely.

The best thing to do would be a system restore. You might have installed some software or changed some settings which made the sound disappear.

Click on Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore and follow the on screen instructions.

Rebooting by itself. No sound coming out for months now even if volume is u p. Not muted. Checked Device Manager, sound seems ok. I think the sound card is gone.

possible u are having issue with the sound card, most of Dell inspiron system's got integrated sound card u might need to have replacement for the motherboard and it might resolve the issue rebooting byt itself. You might want to consider reinstalling the OS first before hardware replacement.

Sound card has become inoperable since I loaded on the IKmultimedia software

It seems your system complicates soundcard's driver version and patches. To eliminate problem that causes inoparable one at a time; please consider to uninstall software sound applications and drivers. Remove any secondary or external sound cards and enable the built-in sound card at the BIOS. Now, start the system in Safe Mode try to remove the existing soundcard drivers at control panel sound card properties. Restart the system, well try to prove that the built-in sound card still working by reinstalling it. By then you can disable it again and install your secondary or external sound card. Hope it will work this time, else you'll need to clean up your Operating System astrays dll's using registry cleaners third party software. I met this problem before that my only recouse is by reformatting the system.
