Comfortmaker 10 means simply it is a 10 SEER system. Unable to determine the OUTPUT size without the Model Number. Go to the Outdoor Unit Nameplate and locate the Model No. Here is an easy way to determine the "SIZE" of the "Comfortmaker 10 HVAC" Systems:
Cliff, this is Teng. Look inside your furnace if there is any flashing code. If your furnace is recently installed it should have electronic control board.
the inside coil and outside unit should be matching in tonages another word if you have 2.5 ton outside the inside sould be the same. it don't matter what brand name or who made it.
Unfortunately is usually wiser to replace upper unit than repair, as they are a closes system (no fittings for re-charge) if required, but AC repair guys can solder some in, but by time you pay their bill, it's usually wiser to replace it and get warranty as well. Make sure you look real close (use a flashlight) at the intake coils and fins up at front of unit, where you air filter covers, for dirt accumulated in the coils/fins and restricting the flow through them, (evaporator) as well as remove cover up top and inspect those as well for any dirt/dust that may be blocking airflow through them on fan side as well as back side (condensor). If those 3 areas haven't been cleaned well in a while, it is quite possibly your problem. I'm currently working on one now that is probably 15-20 yrs.old, so a 10 year life span is not uncommon. If you need more details or assistance, let me know. Keep me posted with what you find.
Most newer units have a brass inlet on the valve and a plastic outlet. Older modles have a plastic garder hose type fitting for inlet and same smaller plastic thread for outlet Some models have push in connectors called John Guess fittings the do not require threading.
if it is a Heat pump style the rev valve is in the Freon lines you will have to pull the unit out into the room out of it's sleeve which will stay in the wall ....it rev the flow of refrigerant is it cooling ok?? there is a solenoid on that valve that may be bad i would check that first you will have to look to see if it is energized in the heat or cool mode first to make sure it is switching it should look like a sideways tube with 3 outlets on one side and 1 inlet on the top and the solenoid coil as well with 2 wires going to it let me know what you find out ...1 Note the unit may have electric heat and the element maybe out you will have to pull to check
