Wont build up air. What could be the problem

leaking pressure hose from cilinder to tank leak pressure switch a dirty check valve on the tank open it and look for a smooth clean rubber valve that can free move and no metal pieces in it if that is there found then a part in the hose line or membrane plates are broken , if you have a dry(oilless) compressor the piston ring and cylinder may be worn.
Several possibilitys depends on models The pressure reducing valve can also be faulty leaking drain at the bottom of the tank leaking the safety valve must be good closed and also the little pressure release unit the small black hose oft in many models in the pressure switch must be closed by start there can also some dirt comes in. .that it will not close and then its continu blow of normal you can hear that it closed by starting and always release the pressure air for the next start .

The only way you can have air blowing out of the breather is if the valve plate is installed backwards or incorrectly, possible because they are symetrical. If it's in wrong on one cylinder it will also let any pressure built up by the other cylinder(s) bleed off. Try turning the valve plate around 180 degrees on the cylinder blowing out the breather, if that doesn't work check the plate's assembly compared to the valve plate on the working cylinders. You should be able to tell if each cylinder is working properly just by turning the flywheel by hand and putting a finger over the breather hole and/or discharge hole.

Hi, my air conditioner works fine but if I leave it on to long it will start blowing out warm air. Then when I turn it off, it sounds like its still on. And I have to wait a whole day before it blows cool...

Sounds like the unit is icing up.

Window air conditioners are not usually of sufficient capacity to keep a room much below 74°F. If not allowed to cycle off occasionally during the day, the evaporator (cold radiator) will ice-over and prevent air from passing through it.

The way most are constructed, the water is designed to drain to the bottom near the compressor. The heat of the compressor and air provided by the condenser fan motor are intended to evaporator the condensate.

Try using a higher setting on the unit and see if that helps. It needs to be able to shut-down once in a while. If you have the option, set the fan switch to 'on' instead of 'auto'. This keeps the inside fan motor blowing all the time, with the compressor cycling as needed. The moving air will make the conditioned space more comfortable with a higher temperature setting.

I have a ch 28 gal (wl611700aj) air compressor,it pumps up to 80 psi.wont pump up any further but does keep running.whats your thoughts?

Here are a couple of things to check. While the compressor is running spray soapy water on all airlines, fittings, bottom of pressure switch, regulator and drain valve to make sure that they are not leaking. A small leak will prevent the unit from reaching cutout limit. Repair as needed. Next unplug compressor and remove cover to expose cylinder and piston. Move piston to top of cylinder and check for scratches or wear neer top of cylinder. If scratched, air is bypassing piston ring and will not reach cutout pressure. If cylinder looks good and no leaks then problem most likely is valve plate/ reed valves or head gasket. Problems within head will cause low pressure and air line to tank will be very hot. Bad reed valves will also cause air to blow out of intake when it reaches 75 to 80 psi. Parts are available at or at Good luck

Second time compressor tries to fill tank blows braker

The compressor pobably has a faulty unloader valve which bleeds the pressure off that is left in the cylinder when the compressor turns off . The unloader valve allows the compressor to start the next on cycle with the cylinder empty. Trying to start the compressor with the cylinder under pressure causes too much current draw and trip the circuit breaker.

Ingersoll Rand Air compressor loosing pressure

sounds like you have a problem with the discharge valve on the secondary cylinder, some I.R. pumps rely on the cylinder head valves to hold back tank pressure when the pump comes to a stop. the line down to the crankcase in front of the crank is a unloader valve that dumps the air pressure inside the pump to allow the next restart. I think that once you drain the tank and remove that cylinder head you will find a defective valve in the head.

Porter cable compressor will not restart once it is under pressur

This is likely a bad check valve which is allowing pressure from the tank to leak thru back to the compressor. The compressor won't start because the compressor cylinder has air pressure on it.

The check valve is about the size and shape of a .410 shotgun shell -- it's in the copper line from the compressor to the tank.
