Are you trying to set up the router.
You can do it manually without the CD.
Make sure that your computer is able to go online through the modem.
If your computer is not able to go online through the modem then you will need to call ISP first.
If your computer is able to go online through the modem
then you need to connect the computer to the router and the modem to the router.
open the set up page of the router and change the settings of the router according to the ISP.

Where do I find my security code for my linksys rounter

Type 192.168.1.1 (or maybe 192.168.0.1) into your address bar of your browser.
Type your username and password into the login page (default is admin and a blank password.....some models are the opposite, the name is blank and admin is the password)
Once logged into the administration console click on the wireless tab. Your encryption key may be on this page, or there may be a sub tab 'wireless security' that you need to click on, it is different on different models but it can be found on one of these pages.

The belkin rounter of my dad's laptop was installed without password setting. i tried to set it up on 192.168.2.1 configuration page. i was notified that the rounter will restart again itself...thereafter...

If you can still remember the password that you entered on the configuration page, follow the steps below:
1. In the lower right corner of your screen (near the time and date), right click on the wireless network connection icon, then select view available wireless networks. Or, if your wireless adapter has its own wireless utility, you should see that in the lower right corner of your screen.
2. You should see the router's wireless network name (SSID). By default, the SSID is "belkin54g". Select the SSID and it will prompt you for the network key.
3. The network key is the password that you entered on the router configuration page.

If you cannot remember the password that you entered, follow the steps below.
a. Connect your computer to the router using an ethernet cable.
b. Access the setup page by typing 192.168.2.1 in the address bar.
c. Go to Wireless -> Security. Copy the network key.
d. Then follow steps 1-4 above.

For the MAC computer:
1. From the Airport menu, select the SSID.
4. When asked for a password, enter the network key that you entered on the router.

I hope this helps!

How do I lock my linksy wireless rounter

By lock, I take it that you mean how to secure it. In order to do this, you have multiple steps to preform at will, such as enabling encryption, or changing the admin password. Basically, it sounds like you want to enable encryption, so you will need to log into the router's configuration settings page (the webpage used to initially setup the router), go to the wireless tab, wireless security sub-tab, select a type of encryption (WPA2-Personal/PSK recommended, or at least WPA), enter the desired passkey, and click Save Settings at the bottom of the page. *Note: I order to connect wirelessly after setting up the encryption will require inputting the encryption on the connecting device. Please comment if you have anymore questions, and I will be glad to help out as much as I can.

Here is a link to see what specifically you may want to do to secure it, along with along with a link on that page to a place to show you how to do each step.

Router

Before you can get online through the router all you need to do is change the Linksys router's IP address. Because the westell and the linksys has the same range of IP address that creates a conflict on your network that's why you can't get online.

First login to the setup page of your linksys router.
  1. Under the Setup Tab (this is the first screen that you will see after typing in the linksys router's password.) make sure that the Internet connection type is set to Automatic Configuration- DHCP, Then on the same page look for router IP address or LAN IP address. By default its 192.168.1.1, you need to change it to 192.168.2.1. And hit save settings. You will get disconnected from the linksys page, that is normal. If you want to log back in to the router page you use the new address of your linksys (192.168.2.1).
  2. Now you restart your computer to refresh the connection and that should get you online.
Just reply to my post to let me know if your done doing this. We will setup the wireless after we make sure that you can get online wired to the router.
