Question about Panasonic KXTG4500B 5.8 GHz 4-Line Corded / Cordless Phone

Panasonic kxtg4500b won't register the handsets. i have already gone thorugh the unplug, reset, registration process. It worked fine until we unplugged the base unti to move it and plugged it back ini.

Hi,
Panasonic manufactures a number of cordless phones. Most of the on-screen error messages on these phones are self-explanatory. For example, if "No link to base. Move Closer to base, try again." comes up on the display, you'll know what to do to correct any transmission problems. But sometimes an issue will arise where there is no clear remedy. This article will help you troubleshoot such situations.

    Handset and/or Base Fail to Power-up.
  1. If the handsetpanasonic kxtg4500b won't register the handsets.  - mag-glass_10x10.gif and/or base just do not work at all, make sure the battery is fully charged. If you are sure the battery is charged, you might need to clean the battery contacts--you can use a little sandpaper, or some wire wool. Check that the battery is seated correctly. Unplug the base unit and plug it in again.
  2. Poor Sound Quality
  3. Static or the audio cutting in and out can be caused by electrical interference. Move the phone away from other electrical appliances. If that doesn't work, then you will need to be closer to the base unit. Make sure the base unit antenna is raised fully.

    Handset Issues

  • If the handset doesn't ring, check that the ringer isn't turned off. It should be set to high, medium or low. If the handset display is blank, fully charge the battery. If you have any problems programming functions into the handset, you may need to get closer to the base unit. Don't pause too long between programming and make sure the line is not in use.

  • Dialing Issues
  • If you are having problems dialing long-distance calls, make sure your phone company is providing you with long-distance service. Make sure you have paid the bill. Check if Caller IQ is on; if so, you may need to turn it off.

  • Caller Identification Issues
  • If the Caller ID is not appearing on the screen and you have subscribed to the service, make sure any other phones you have are not interfering. Disconnect your other phones to see if, by a process of elimination, the problem goes away. Some callers will block their caller identification. If this is an intermittent problem, then that may be the cause.

  • Alerts
  • If the ringer/message alert indicator light slowly flashes, and the handset is not being used or not ringing, you have messages in your voice mailbox. Listen to the messages, or you can turn this feature off in the programming menu. It is normal for the charge indicator light to remain on, even when the unit is fully charged.

HOW DO I DEREGISTER MY BASE STATION?


If you want to replace a handset or re-assign the designated handset number of a registered handset, you must de-register all the handsets and then individually register each handset.
To de-register all handsets:
Press and hold
FIND HANDSET
on the telephone base for about 10
seconds (until the IN USE light on the telephone base turns on and starts to flash), then release FIND HANDSET
.
Press and release
FIND HANDSET again. (You must press FIND HANDSET
while the IN USE light is still flashing. The IN USE light flashes for
approximately seven seconds.)
All system handsets show
CONNECTING...
The de-registration process
takes about 10 seconds to complete. All handsets show
NOT REGISTERED
when the de-registration completes.
If de-registration fails, you might need to reset the telephone and try again.
To reset:
Pick up the registered handset and then press
/FLASH
.
Press
OFF/CLEAR
and place the handset back in the telephone base.
-OR-
Unplug the power from the telephone base, then plug it back in.
note:
You cannot de-register a handset if any system handset is in use.

After de-registering, proceed with registering process:
If the handset screen does not show LOW BATTERY
or HANDSET X, you will need to charge the handset for at least five minutes before registering to the telephone base.
To register a handset:
Place the unregistered handset in the telephone base or charger. If
PRESS FIND HS 4 SEC ON BASE
does not appear on the handset screen after a few seconds, remove the handset and place it in the telephone base or charger again.
On the telephone base, press and hold
FIND HANDSET
for about four seconds (until the red IN USE light on the telephone base turns on) and then release the button. The handset shows
PLEASE WAIT...
and it takes about 10 seconds to complete the registration. The handset shows
HANDSET X REGISTERED
(X represents the handset number assigned)
and you hear a beep when the registration completes.

Hand set says connecting even before it is reset with new base.


This sounds like a registration problem, each 'old'
handset must be de-registered from its original
base and then registered to the 'new' base.

NOTE: the CS6229 handles a maximum of 5
handsets. If you have a handset displaying
"Handset #5" then you have a 'fully populated system'
even if you actually have only one or two handsets.

You will need to clear each handset ( I ) then clear
the base of all registrations ( II ) before re-registering
each handset ( III ) up to the maximum of five.
=====================================
( I ). First, to de-register a handset ---

0. Start by taking off the battery compartment cover.

1. press [menu]
2. scroll up/down to "Settings"
3. enter * 7 8 9 0 #
4. scroll down to "next page", press [select]
5. scroll down to "Register Clear?", press [select]
6. display asks "Confirm?" or "Register Clear??",
press [select]
7. display reads "Ok" and chirps, press [ off ]

8. UNPLUG THE HANDSET BATTERY
(this is why the cover was off)

9. Wait ~30 seconds, re-connect the battery &
replace the cover

10. display reads "Not Registered"
===============================

( II.) To clear the base of all handset registrations
( if needed, else skip ahead to ( III ). )

1. press [Find Handset] on the base and hold
past ~4 sec when the "In Use" lamp lights, at
about 10 secs the "In Use" lamp will begin to
blink. 2. release the [Find Handset] button momentarily,
then briefly press it again. After a moment,
all handsets that were registered to the base
(if any) will display "Not Registered" and be
ready for fresh registration ===============================

( III.) To register each handset to the base:

1. press [Find Handset] on the base and hold for
~4 sec until the "In Use" lamp lights.
2. press # on the handset and set the handset into
the handset cradle on the base
3. within 30 seconds or so, the handset will either
chirp and display "Handset Registered", then
"Handset #x" or it will say "Registration Failed".

NOTE: the battery must be well charged prior to the
registration process, a weak battery may cause a
"Registration Failed". Charge the battery for a
few hours and try the registration ( III ) again.

My phone display's No link to base. Reconnect main bas AC adapter. It is plugged in what now?


I had this problem, and I fixed it by re-registering the phone to the base. Here are the directions for how to do that from the manual:

Registering a handset to the
base unit
The supplied handset and base unit are
pre-registered. If for some reason the
handset is not registered to the base
unit, re-register the handset.
1 Handset:
{MENU}
2 {V}/{^}: "Initial setting"
{OK}
3 {V}/{^}: "Registration"
{OK}
4 {V}/{^}: "HS registration"
{OK}
5 Base unit:
- KX-TG4011 series:
Press and hold {LOCATOR} for
about 5 seconds. (No registration
tone)
- KX-TG4021/KX-TG4071 series:

If all registered handsets start
ringing, press the same button to
stop. Then repeat this step.
The next step must be completed

My Uniden 1560-3 has out of range on all handsets but one. I only have a dial tone on one handset. Please advise how I can correct this problem


Reset the hand sets that are out of range by doing the following:

1) Press and hold END and # for at least five seconds.
2) Move the cursor to select Base Unavailable and then press Menu/Select.
3) Select the base which you want to de-register from, and then press Menu/Select. Base Unavailable appears.
4) Move the cursor to select Yes, and then press Menu/Select. You hear a confirmation tone,

(For DCX150 handsets)
5) Place the handset in the base cradle for about thirty seconds. Handset Registering will appear in the LCD.
6) When the handset has registered to the base, the LCD will display Registration complete then show the handset
ID number.
If the display shows Registration failed, repeat the process again.

(For DCX200 or DCX300 handsets)
5)Disconnect the base AC adapter. Then press and hold find while you reconnect the adapter. Keep holding
find until the charge LED starts to blink.
6)When charged, registered handsets display a handset ID number. Handsets that have not been registered display:
7) On the handset, press and hold # until the handset beeps and displays Handset Registering.
8) When the handset has registered to the base, the LCD will display Registration complete then show the handset
ID number.
If the display shows Registration failed, repeat the process again.

please follow the instruction to register the handset to base

To register a DCX150 accessory handset:
1. Charge the handset completely.
2.Place the handset in the base cradle for about thirty seconds. Handset Registering will appear in the LCD.
3.When the handset has registered to the base, the LCD will display Registration complete then show the handset ID number.

If the display shows Registration failed, repeat the process again.

To register a DCX200 or DCX300 accessory handset:

1.Charge the handset completely.
2.Disconnect the base AC adapter. Then press and hold find while you reconnect the adapter. Keep holding find until the charge LED starts to blink.
3.On the handset, press and hold # until the handset beeps and displays Handset Registering.
4.When the handset has registered to the base, the LCD will display Registration complete then show the handset
ID number.

If the display shows Registration failed, repeat the process again.

I need help with handset registration on uniden 1588


not sure if you have already got a solution for this problem as it was also listed in the Premium section until a few hours ago.

You must ensure each handset is charged for atleast 20 hours.

Best to de-register each handset first. Follow the menu on base or handset to select de-register.

Then follow the registration process for each handset using the menu function.

Hope it works this time.

My cordless phone says "to register see owners manual for help" How do I get the phone working, it is a uniden DECT 6.0 Model DECT 1588-2


With the phone in standby, press MENU/SELECT on the base.
Move the cursor to select the Register Handset menu, and then press MENU/SELECT. Handset Registering will appear.
On the handset, press and hold # until the handset beeps and displays Handset Registering.
When the handset has registered to the base, the LCD will display Registration Complete then show the handset ID number.
If the display shows Registration failed, repeat the process again.
Note: If a handset has ever been registered to a base, reset the handset before you register it to a new base

Re-registering the Handset is not working


The solution is this - unplug the base unit then plug it back in. After that it worked fine.

VTech 5.8 mhz won't work


I found a solution that fixed this problem (at least for me). On the vtech site they said to unplug the base unit for at least 5 minutes. Previously, I had only unplugged the base unit for a few seconds. This time, I left it unplugged for about 10 minutes or so and when I plugged it back in, everything was working fine. Apparently there is some sort of capacitor that must discharge long enough to completely remove power from the circuitry.
