Question about Sub-Zero Refrigerators

Open Question

Refrigerator is not cooling at al. Light works but that's about it. got a quote but looking around for better prices. Was told.... "Needs new evaporator, acso filter & freon 12" The quote for fixing it was astronomical from this place and I wanted to check around but every place I call won't give a quote on anything (even) parts over the phone and I don't want to waste another $75 trip fee for someone to tell me the same thing I already know.

SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

If the problem is in the vegetable crisper drawer primarily, Google "WR49X10045". This is a simple fix kit for a design flaw.

SOURCE: Samsung Refrigerator

I have a RS2544SL side by side Samsung with a defrost sensor failure light upon a plug-in reboot, according to the service manual, which I purchase from Samsung so that I could help a local service provider unsuccessfully fix the unit.

The unit was less than 3 years old when I started having problems. The freezer side works although the unit will not re-boot following a power outage because is hangs-up on the defrost sensor flashing light on the front display.

Samsung service providers have stopped working on Samsung refrigerators and Samsung would not suppor the repair.
I had an independent service provider install a new defrost sensor but the reboot-pluging program still hangs-up at the defrost sensor despite a newly installe defrost sensor from Samsung.

The freezer side continues to work well and problems continue with the refrigerator side. The unit continues to fail during power-outages because it hangs-up on the warning light. I by-pass by holding both power freeze and power refrigerator buttons for 10 second as described in the service manual. After by-passing the warning light, the performance of the refrigeration side continues to be unreliable.

What is my next step to get my relatively new Samsung side-by-side refrigerator fixed, since Samsung will not back their warranty and Costco where I bought the unit also will not backup the warranty and purchase.

We have the same problem and were told to apply vaseline to the rubber edges of the door; this did help.

SOURCE: Refrigerator cools as normal. Trips 15 AMP circuit breaker.

a full size refrige has to be on a 20 amp circuit, a 15 amp is just not big enough.. you should also know that this circuit has to be on a 12-2 gauge wire.. I also highly recommend installing a 20 amp HD receptacle

that's a serious problem and I believe you need to either get a new refrigerator or have a technician come and give you a better diagnosis than me trying to find out what the problem is I look for parts and I don't think that model offers too many repairable parts for the evaporator an example is the defrost heater is part of the whole price of the evaporator

That does not sound like a defrost timer problem. Sounds like a condenser or evaporator fan is beginning to fail. They don't always stop when they fail. Many will slow down and stop while you are not looking causing the refrigerator to stop cooling for a while. Let me know if you have any questions, Thanks Sea Breeze

Rare but possible. I suggest that you order the part yourself and call a serviceman to install it for you. That may be a way to circumvent paying such an exorbitant price for servicing.

I had a bad vibration whenever i would apply the brakes so i thought it was the front rotors. well i took it to a repair shop and they told me the rear drums and shoes needed replaced and also the front...

That sounds high to me but this is the kind of thing that dose not have to go to a dealer. Shop around for a better price. Check with independent brake and muffler shops. Do this by just calling them and asking what it would cost to have the following work done; front rotors machined, new front pads, rear drums and rear brakes. To be on the safe side also ask about the price to replace the front rotors as sometimes you have to replace them too if they are too far gone’ worn, gouged or warped. Make sure you are comparing the same work at each shop and also get information about the warranty (many places offer life time parts but may gouge your on labor when you come back). Once you have the shops rated by price and warranty go the one of your choice and have them give you a brake inspection and tell you want needs to be done. You don't want to be the one telling them what needs to be done unless you are 100% sure of the needed work. If there are big differences in prices for the work on the front and the back between shops you can have one shop do the front and the other do the rear brakes Depends how much effort you want to invest in gathering prices. Just be sure the shop tells you want needs to be done. By the way, the vibration that was your original problem is most likely warped front brake rotors.

Wreckers normally look to sell at about 1/2 the cost of new so the prices you put in your query would be right. Some wreckers will discount a little more if you are willing to take the parts off yourself. The only thing is that if you wreck them taking them off you still bought them. Hope this helps.

Freezer cool but not cold

It sounds like it is due for a shot of freon (or most likely R-134A), and most fridges have a crimped coolant line instead of fittings to connect to for recharging. Call a few refrigerator repair guys and get some quotes, and then compare the price of a new, more energy efficient fridge. You will probably decide you are better off just buying new, considering the average life span of white goods is around 10 years, and no telling what will go bad next.

Dometic refrigerator

The system is sealed very difficult to charge. Not to mention expensive. The same price to get a new coil. The boards that control the operations are hard to trouble shoot sometimes. Do you have 12 Volts DC going in to the control board. If yes does the control board inside show green lights that it is working. If so the lower control board on the out side needs to be looked at.
