Question about SITEX CVS126 Dual Frequency Color Echo Sounder
I assume you've tried to change the setting in the main menu, and that's where you're having your problem. The unit could be "stuck" in that mode, and if disconnecting the power, and resetting the unit doesn't help, you could have a software glitch, or possibly a hardware problem, but it sounds like a software problem. The unit has a 2 year parts and 1 year labor warranty- if your warranty's still good, have it serviced, by all means. Here is some discussion of the menu buttons and options:
In the lower left position is the Function key, this key also executes a preset function. The currently selected function is shown on the far right of the header line, and one of ten possible functions can be chosen.
The main menu is reached with a press of the Menu key and then a selection is made and executed with the cursor pad arrows. Another press of the Menu key exits back to the last page. You can also use the rotary gain knob to choose menu selections.
Below these keys is the Range button, a press here brings up the depth range menu box only if you have already set manual depth in the main menu. Otherwise an onscreen message reads simply ‘Auto range’. In manual one of eight user adjustable depth ranges can be set.
Continuing down you’ll find the gain knob. It is used to make gain changes in manual mode, auto mode, and as another means of choosing menu items.
If you've selected a manual range in the main menu, it could be your problem, so check that for sure.

I am sure you are getting some sort of error message at the time it starts up. Most of the models of echo sounder gives the error message at the start up. Please check the manual provided bellow.
Do not worry about the model as the basi functions, error messages are all the same.
