SOURCE: I have a GE electric oven mode JSP48G*J2. It has

Normally the mechanical timers have only 2 terminals. Active supply in and oven load out. It doesn't matter which wire you put where. If you don't use the timer just join the active supply and the load together and the oven will work.

Suspected burned out heating element

your "specific" answer is same for all, If your element is "open" then your ohn reading would be infinite,if it is shorted it would be 0 ohm both cases would need replacing. You need to look at the wiring digram for a temperature switch[thermostat] which will be connected in series with the element. All heaters, microwaves ovens, are required to have them They open up when or if oven gets too HOT. The little units cost about $2-3 and can be bought online [e-bay] Go to find your make, model and they will show you the part and how to replace it.Good luck Steve The unit is a protection device always replace it with proper temperture rating.!

This is an universal replacement part, that is the reason why it is different from your TB original part.

The thermostat should have the temperature probe already attached.

Fit temperature probe and thermostat, then connect the element (s) wires on one side of the thermostat. The order in which you connect element polarity to thermostat does not matter. The thermostat will cut off power to element when the specific temperature is being reached by the temperature probe.

Clock display too dim

You are going to need a display kit to fix this. It comes with a new display and relay board. The kit is about $200 and is somewhat difficult to install. This repair altogether usually runs about $400 to fix if you dont have someone handy that can do it for you. It involves removing and replacing at least 20 wires from the relay boards, as well as either pulling the oven from the wall or working in a tight space to change the board. You may be able to find just the display board somewhere, and that is very easy to install, but I've only ever gotten the part as a kit. Hate to be the bearer of bad news. Good Luck!
