Question about Bosch Refrigerators

2 Answers

I have a Bosch Refrigerator at my church that is not cooling on the Refrigerator side, it is a Model # B20CS50SNW /02. I am an electrican but not an applance tech. The blower fan for that side is not turning, it does try to and it is getting about 12.6 Volts DC, also the Freezer side blower seems to be turning very slowly and seems to have a hard time stating. Also the ice maker is not working, and while the freezer side is still cold some icecream that is in it is very soft so i think it is not getting cold enough for the ice maker to fill, i wonder if the main PC board is bad and not puting out enough voltage to run the blowers? Does anyone know how much and what type of voltage these fan motors are susposted to run on? Bosch# for Fan Motor - 497841, PC Board - 640603, thank you Mike

Generally the fans use line voltage, but if you have a controller board and are getting 12 Volts this would be the correct voltage. The problem is the fans. You will need to replace these fans and defrost the freezer and fridge. When the evaporator coils have frozen overdue to insufficent air flow then no fan will be able to cool the fridge. So make sure that once you replace these fans you get a good defrost for at least 8 hours. Unless you use a hair dryer or heat gun to speed up the process. You will find that these fans are about $52.00 each and trying to repair or fix one will only result in a second repair.

Have Bosch b20cs81snb side by side with similar issue. Replaced evaporator fan and working fine now ice blocking drain after repair opened up bottom freezer panel and thawed with blow dryer. Going to replace fan on fridge side also as seems to not be running well. This was at year 4 for the appliance. Have gone through 2 condenser fans on this fridge as well, seem to only last 1.5 to 2 years. Would rather have more durable fans and use little more electric.

Hello,

More than likely the control board in the refrigerator section has failed. The only thing that would cause this issue it a control. The breaker reset was only resetting the software in the control board.

Replace the board on the side and it will fix this issue.

Bosch Refrigerator B20CS50SNW. How much refrigerant does unit take to work correctly? The Model Tag has been damaged.

When you ask how much refrigerant does it take, I'm assuming you have taken out the gas for some reason?. It will depend on what type of gas it uses, but the best way is to remove all the old refrigerant, evacuate the system, Test the system for leaks by checking your gauges that the vacuum does not climb ( ie: the vacuum decreases if it draws in air from a leak in the pipework or joint). If it does not leak then introduce a small amount of approx 0.500 grms of gas, Wait for that to equalize in the system about 10 min's. Start your unit then with a clamp meter on the live wire continue to introduce gas in vapour form until your meter reads maximum load running amps for the compressor fitted. you should then have the required amount in the system. You can work on a plus or minus 0.005 grammes. If it is running on R600a. You must get a specialist in to do it as this is a flammable gas. ISOBUTANE.
