Check to see if there are any faults in the AC power plug. Check the plug's connection to the power outlet to make sure that it isn't the outlet causing the problem. Check the plug's connection to the monitor to make sure that a loose plug isn't the issue.

Check the VGA cables to see if they are properly connected as well It is usually smart to unplug the cable and check the connectors inside the cable to make sure that everything is in proper order.

Try using the monitor on another computer if it continues to flash and act up. This will clearly denote if the problem is with your computer or with the monitor. If the monitor works on another computer, the computer is the problem. If the monitor doesn't work on another computer. the monitor is the problem.

Update your video card drivers. This can answer some problems that might come from the video card instead of the monitor.

Call the manufacturer of the monitor if the problem persists, or call a computer repair shop. This should be the last and final step in the troubleshooting process. There might be a problem with some electrical configuration or core components that is best left to an expert.

HP m9510f will not boot up.

no boot M9510f,
no boot is like the all time #1 complaint on PCs.
endless posts online on this and for sure at HP.. ever read their forums?
there real name is (and is supported still at HP) is
HP Pavilion Elite m9510f Desktop PC
no statement on screens, is the screen dead, and black
never once see HP logo, never see words to the effect
hit ESC to enter HP setup (BIOS) or F1 or F10 or????? do tell please.
that is first, forget windows now (its LAST)
screen model or maker stated ,
my guess a flat screen LCD
and the front button on it works and the screens local OSD menu works, right?
if PC is dead, the screen is checked first. for sure if BIOS screens in the PC are 100% dead, no text no F1,ESC,F10 keys prompted in text means PC dead or SCREEN dead.

here is HP page on your pc

here is black screen tests.
the screen (DISPLAY monitor) has its own brain
and is called OSD, on screen display
we check that first. always........ if screen is made before 2000 year
we trash it.... LOL (before first brains inside )

My screen on hp 1907 went blank, my 13 yr old nephew started punching all the buttons on the monitor over and over and hitting the on and off button. Now I am having a problem with my screen going black...

I think it's pretty clear he messed something up. Try checking the VGA cable (the blue one) that's hooked up to both you computer and monitor. Check if any pins are bent or broken. If not, make sure they're securely plugged in and try booting up. If it still doesn't work, then I'm afraid he may have knocked some connection in the motherboard out of whack. I hope it's just a slight VGA problem. Hope this helps!

My LG flatiron W1943TB turns on, says analog power saving mode, goes black and then the power button flashes.. but the monitor is hooked up to my dell notebook bc my LCD died

Hi erin mckinle,
That is probably it's, uh, analog power saving mode. When the screen goes black and the power button flashes, make some mouse gestures or hit some keys that would not affect anything (try spacebar). That should bring up the screen. If you think it goes into power saving mode too fast, go to Control Panel --> Power Options, and change the values. Hope this helps.

Blank screen - appears to be dead

If the screen is completely black, your screen may indeed be dead. There are a few solutions you can try before throwing in the towel though.

1) Test the monitor on another PC if you can.
2) Make sure the contrast, and brightness aren't turned all the way down.
3) Make sure the graphics card in your PC is functional. You can easily test this by connecting a known working monitor to your computer.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, and your graphics card is in good working order, you indeed have a dead monitor on your hands. It may be cheaper to buy a new monitor, than to have that one serviced.

IBM R40 Screen Problems

I think you have an inverter board thats just about dead. It's located in the screens plastic housing at the bottom of the screen just above the keyboard. It's about 4 inches long and a half inch wide. There's just one little cable connecting it. But you have to take your screen apart to get to it. It's easy to replace and relatively inexpensive but it does require a little disassembly skill.
Also ,I will need the exact part number from the bottom of your laptop. There are several different R 40 models, and 2 different screen sizes.

Monitor flashes on then goes black.

I think you have the display shut off. the button on the bottom left will shut screen off. It will come on for a few seconds if you touch the screen, but will shut off again. just push the display button again and it should stay on.
